Galatasaray meeting for Kaboul today

Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Younès Kaboul has a Moroccan descent so Turkish sides are keen to get hold of his services.

A 20-year-old French international with European and Premier League experience is a big pull for them and three of the largest sides all want him, Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş. Tottenham wish to conclude a deal before Kaboul moves into the final year of his contract on 1 July and all three Turkish clubs are trying to sign him this week.

Turkish news outlet AMK (link opens in a new window) report that Galatasaray officials are meeting Tottenham officials today. You'll recall the reports over the weekend that both Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe were flying to London this week.

This is the second meeting between the clubs and if they can agree a fee the Galatasaray officials will contact Kaboul's representatives to discuss terms. It was reported in Turkey previously that the Kaboul camp contacted Fenerbahçe to say he's like to move to Turkey. Preliminary talks will already have been held to get a ball park figure of wages so you would expect personal terms not to be a problem, although they were the reason he didn't join Beşiktaş in January.

If a deal can be agreed it will be encouraging to see a player depart when we have already boughht his replacement, Austrian international Kevin Wimmer.
