Emmanuel Adebayor

Welcome news that Christian Eriksen and Nacer Chadli have both told the media they don't want to leave Spurs, it's always nice to hear players say they want to stay. Oh hang on a minute, Emmanuel Adebayor said he wants to stay, scrub that last remark, it's usually nice to hear players say they want to stay at the club.
The wonderful world of Emmanuel Adebayor, a legend in his own lunchtime. It has been made perfectly clear he is not wanted at Tottenham and reports suggest he has finally got the message, unfortunately we pay his fat salary. Manchester City couldn't get shot of him and had to pay him to leave, he wouldn't take a drop in wages. His modus operandi seems to be to piss a club off and hang around until they are willing to give him cash to go.
Adebayor was told he wouldn't be loaned out to a top half club in January so refused all moves to bottom half clubs prepared to pay 75% of his salary and try to engineer a move to West Ham who were only willing to contribute 50%. Pretty clear he was playing a game of chicken with Daniel Levy.
He the he gave interview afterwards, if you look at his body language and tone of voice, was disingenuous in my view. I'm happy at Spurs, really, more like happy with my wage at Spurs.
Aston Villa have enquired, he'd happily reunite with a manager who plays him but no hope of affording his wages, no hope of Crystal Palace affording them either so offering him to them isn't going to make a blind bit of difference.
We have heard all about him flaunting his wealth online, a lazy brother, voodoo spells, his outburst on Facebook, more compassionate leave to sort out the family troubles that created, not arriving home in time for a Spurs game, not turning up for Togo training, giving no word and rolling up 3 days later despite being in the same city and being thrown out the Togo squad. He said he only saw Adebayor at training twice and apart from that didn't see him.
He is far more trouble than he is worth. Togo lost their friendly game to Ghana 1-0 and Adebayor was there watching. He jetted out after the game on his private plane. On Sunday Togo have a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Liberia.
Everything it seems must be on Adebayor's terms, he must be loved or he won't try and of course we can't just sack him without justifiable reason. His recent declaration again that he is happy at Spurs, while dismissing Turkey rumours, I'm afraid only now gets seen as I'm happy with my wage at Spurs.
A loan is almost certainly the best we can hope for and probably only with 50% of his wage paid. I would certainly again only loan him to a bottom half team or abroad, Newcastle would be good they love their centre-forwards, the history of the number 9 shirt is made for him.
