Drumming up interst but who would sign him?

Emmanuel Adebayor, as we all know is not wanted at Spurs, that has been made abundantly clear to him by the club. Mauricio Pochettino with the backing of Daniel Levy has left him in the cold to try to force him out the club.

The club are exploring every avenue possible to get rid of him and while it took a while he and his agent have finally got the message he will not even be in the match day squad at Spurs. Adebayor is clearly only interested in money, he claimed on leaving City that the £5 million (US$7.67m - AUS$9.84m - €6.89m) payment he forced them to pay him to go was for charity work, but the fact that he posts pictures to flaunts his wealth rather tells another story.

Tottenham were said to be worried about his mental state, not the first time either, and given him compassionate leave. He has been selected for the Togo squad but failed to turn up to their training camp in Lomé on Monday report the Togolese football association.

“On Monday, for the first training session, only 9 players reported to the camp. They have not heard from Emmanuel Adebayor, Kossi Agassa and Floyd Ayité, although they are currently in Lomé.”

All of this makes him difficult to sell to prospective buyers, as is clear from his agent, Mehdi Light, trying to drum up interest in his player when talking to Turkish news outlet Sporx.

“He wants a change in his career. Drogba settled in well at Galatasaray and was impressed with the Super League. The possibility of playing in Turkey itself is extremely exciting.”

It is of course the agents job to try and drum up interest in his client and it's clear his agent knows he has to leave Tottenham, so that is at least encouraging and confirms the view he has got the message to leave. The Turkish paper suggest that he might be available for half the £5 million (US$7.67m - AUS$9.84m - €6.89m) transfer fee we have placed on him.

Why Turkey, well the tax laws are beneficial for high earners so it's popular with some players who like their money. Wesley Sneijder was convinced to go there and is still with Galatasaray but stories circulate every window about possible departures to big clubs, nothing comes of them.

Whether it be a permanent deal or a season loan Spurs will want all his wages off the books. The problem with the Crystal Palace stories is they don't have the money to afford his wages, although they offered to pay 75% in January that was just for a few months, not 10 months (Sept to June). If a loan deal is put together then that will not happen until the end of the window, there is little point a club paying his wages during a transfer window.

Unless a sale happens, and again clubs probably won't want to be signing him and paying his wages during the summer, then that is more likely to happen in the last couple of weeks of August, although a verbal agreement may well happen prior. That's how I see all this panning out.
