Ayew wages problem for Roma, Spurs favourites say Italians

The Italian media are suggesting that Tottenham Hotspur are the favourites to land out of contract André Ayew.

Marseilles have set a wage cap and André Ayew falls outside that so has rejected the chance of another contract with the French side. His contract expires next moth and Spurs have been in discussions with him since January about a move to White Hart Lane.

AS Roma have been chasing him as have French side Olympique Marseille  and fellow Italians Inter Milan. Italian reports suggest that the 25-year-old Ghanaian international is far more likely to join Tottenham now.

Only recently agent Bruno Satin revealed he was in negotiations with AS Roma and was demanding 3 million EUR wages but the deal has now fallen through after talks at the UEFA Europa League final. That wage equates to just over £41,000-a-week (US$62,959 - AUS$82,700 - €57,691) which is well within our budget.

AS Roma have qualified for the UEFA Champions League next season while we can offer the Europa League. His agent felt Champions League would swing his clients decision but agreement over wages has not been reached thus the Italians now see us in the driving seat.
