Carroll keen to impress again

Tom Carroll has been away on loan at Swansea and has some Premier League experience under his belt after his career had seemed to be faltering.

The AIA Cup game against the Malaysian XI and the upcoming game against Sydney FC are a chance to make an impact and catch the managers eye. Right now his future seems to be in the air and this end of season mini tour has come at the right time for him.

The trip to USA and Canada didn't work out for his last summer, he didn't impress so a year one this is an opportunity he has to take and he is fully aware of that.

"This tour is an opportunity for me to impress the gaffer. Being away on loan at Swansea was a good experience and it was nice to play some Premier League games but coming back here is now a chance to show the manager what I can do.
"I don’t know what the plan is. But this is my big chance to impress. I’ve been away at Swansea all season and now is my opportunity. I am a Tottenham player and I want to stay and play next season"

He has started the tour very well, he impressed in the victory in midweek showing awareness, vision and touch. Not everything came off but his first-time passing around the box caught the eye. He was constantly looking for the runs of Harry Kane and trying to slot him through. We sometimes struggle on the edge of the box with packed defences so vision and first time passing can help to unlock them.

One performance against a Malaysian XI doesn't make a player but you can do no more than play the opposition in front of you and Carroll took his chance well, on to Sydney and he'll be looking to do the same again.
