A wide attacker is a priority for Spurs

Once again we simply didn't see enough from the two wide attackers, this time Nacer Chadli and Erik Lamela, while Christian Eriksen simply needs a rest. Chadli is however into double figures, it's the right side that has had a paucity of goals.

There are plenty of clubs after Andre Ayew, of which we are one, while Manchester City could simply blow us away in our pursuit of Jay Rodriguez.

Marseilles have imposed a wage cap and Ayew has thus far not been interested in staying to be a part of that. he is a free transfer in the summer and is of particular interest because he already plays in the system we employ. As long as he is not money orientated but still wants to put it in week in and week out like Frank Lampard has done for years then he could be a useful addition.

Jay Rodriguez has been injured for a year and has only a year left on his contract. There is no guarantee he'll recover his old form or that he can reproduce it at another club, most of Southampton's sales last summer have flopped. Man City may well be happy to pay £20 million, which is way over the top for someone available for free in a season, but we certainly won't.

Mohamad Salah is another contender the press have been telling us persistently. There stories that Chelsea may not sell to Spurs because it's Spurs are nonsense, business is business, even for football clubs. The 22-year-old Egyptian is surplus to requirements at Chelsea, who shipped him out on loan to Fiorentina. He cost £11 million and Chelsea like to make a profit even on players they consider not good enough, indeed the Telegraph suggest the Londoners want £18 million for him.

Bayer Leverkusen value 22-year-old South Korean wide man Son Heung Min at £15 million. He is another who has been on on our radar for a while. He has bagged 11 goals in the Bundesliga this term, with 3 assists. That gtom 27 games equates to a goal every 186 minutes, overall he has scored 17 goals in 39 games, a goal every 173 minutes. He is a player we were interested in 2 years ago but he stayed in Germany and reports suggest he wants to stay there another year.

Plenty of ifs and buts leading up to the transfer window and these are by no means all the names in the frame. Clubs watch many players playing in the same positions, you never know who you may be able to get hold of.
