Hectoe Moreno

The Telegraph bring us a story from the Express that has some dubious elements to it, the story of Hector Moreno having opted for Arsenal over Spurs.

There are suggestions that West Ham United central defender Winston Reid has agreed to join Tottenham in the summer on £60,000 a week, Arsenal refusing to match his wage demands. If that were the case, with Fazio, Vertonghen, Dier and Reid another centre-half would not be required so there may no longer be any Spurs interest.

A fee of £10 million has been suggested by another website but he was £10 million when Spurs had agreed to sign him in the summer. After a broken leg and a year off his contract, it runs out in 2016, his fee is likely to be more in the region of £6 or £8 million. Arsene Wenger does not like to over pay for players amd walks away from deals if they are not the right price, quite rightly. Fans who suggest teams should pay whatever is asked by a selling club have obviously never run their own successful company.

Juventus are interested in the Mexican and they can offer titles as well as Champions League football so it's doubtful he has made his mind up yet where he'll be playing next season. It won't be at Espanyol according to Eduardo Hernandez, his agent.

"Moreno is leaving Espanyol. He wants to leave and we're looking for another team in Europe."

Nothing is cut and dried in football and if we were to lose a centre-half or Winston Reid not sign for Spurs then Moreno may still be an option. It's doubtful he would be interested if there was no European football though as he is at an age where he needs to move his career forward.
