Depay, Kane and Pochettino

What do we have in the news today?

ESPN tell us that Memphis Depay is wanted by Manchester United, Manchester City, PSG and Tottenham Hotspur according to PSV Eindhoven sporting director, Marcel Brands.

The Dutch club hope to bump up his price but it's highly unlikely that Spurs will pay over the odds for another player who has yet to prove it in a big league. International football counts for nothing when it comes to assessing a player for the demands of the Premier League.

The Spurs win over Newcastle United on Sunday saw Erik Lamela wanting too much time on the ball, Costa Rica had an excellent World Cup but nobody has bought their players. Can Depay cut it in a faster game with less time on the ball, I don't know but gambling to find out, in the way we have with Lamela and Soldado especially, can lead to heavy losses the club could do without.

HITC give us links to Glenn Hoddle and former Liverpool central defender Jamie Carragher 'purring' over 21-year-old Englishman Harry Kane.

For some reason the media have been suggesting he has had a dip in form since his goal scoring England debut but as the commentators pointed out during the game, he has only just scored a hat-trick. A striker can't score unless he has chances and Spurs have been very poor in the last couple of games creatively.

The Tottenham Way also go with the Harry Kane theme bringing us a video of head coach Mauricio Pochettino singing his praises in a post Newcastle United interview. he admits Spurs raised their game after two flat performances against Burnley and Aston Villa. He discusses the lack of focus after the interval again and jokes that now perhaps he may have to pay for a dinner for 30 goal striker Harry Kane.
