PSG, Roma, Stoke, QPR, WBA fight over Adebayor loan

Clubs are lining up to take Emmanuel Adebayor on loan until the end of the season from France, Italy and the Premier League if they can get Spurs to agree a deal on transfer deadline day.

PSG, Roma, Stoke, QPR, WBA fight over Adebayor loan

French giants PSG have made enquiries and knowing their interest Tottenham did not want to upset them so didn't press to get Adrien Rabiot on loan even though we want him. There is a clause inserted in the recent contract he signed that he could leave on loan this window, that's the only way he would have signed it but Laurent Blanc has been trying to give him all the game time he can to show he he should stay.

If Spurs insist on the loan then Rabiot would be at White Hart Lane but with the possibility of taking Adebayor off our hands, either now or in the summer with 33-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimović starting to have injury problems, upsetting them would not be a wise move.

Former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp loves to sign old players, by old players I mean ones that have played under him before, as well as old players. QPR have enquired about his availability and we all know when Harry says he's not interested in a player he is interested half the time. Adebayor is one he is definitely interested in but would have to come to some sort of deal with Spurs over wages and a loan fee.

The Birmingham Mail inform us that new West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis is also considering trying to get the Togo international on loan as well. The Midlands club sit 3 points above the relegation zone and need firepower to get themselves out of trouble. Saido Berahino showed against Spurs why he is no £25 million striker, losing heart when he could get no service. That is not the sort of mentality of striker Spurs need to be buying so hopefully we'll keep concentrating our efforts elsewhere.

Next on the list is 10th placed Stoke City managed by a man who knows a thing or two about being a striker, former Manchester United, Barcelona and Wales forward Mark Hughes. When Manchester City manager he signed Adebayor from Arsenal so that should help Adebayor's ego, which has to be massaged if you are to get anything out of him.

"He wasn’t difficult. I liked him as a guy, I thought he was a good character. There was always that feeling that he had everything you needed from a top striker. He has size, pace, power and ability on the ball. He’s the whole package when he wants to be.”

Serie A side Roma have been looking at him as a replacement for the departed Mattia Destro but baulked at his wage demands, Adebayor demanded a wage increase and Roma thought his current wages were already too high, they will try for a loan move but are unlikely to succeed.

As always with Adebayor his wages will be the stumbling block to any deal, Clubs will not want to pay his £100,000-a-week wages and Spurs want them off the books. Plenty of interest but unless PSG really want him then it's unlikely he'll be going anywhere for now.
