Slow progress on transfer deals

After the usual slow start to the transfer window as clubs wait to put pressure on and gain cheaper deals, we are starting to see a few made at White Hart Lane.

Slow progress on transfer deals

Kyle Naughton will be a £5 million ($7.55m - €6.59m) Swansea signing, they have enquired about Tom Carroll and been quoted £5 million, Ryan Mason has signed a contract until 2010, Milos Veljkovic has gone on loan to Charlton Athletic, Dominic Ball on loan to Cambridge United, Grant Hall on loan to Blackpool.

Youngsters have been signed but it is the first team that most fans want to see movement on, but players have to leave before we can bring any in, there are no Premier League squad places available. Emmanuel Adebayor is pricing himself out of a move and is looking more of a £10,000-a-week ($15,097 - €13,176) player than a £100,000-a-week ($150,974 - €131,760) one.

Paulinho takes home £70,000-a-week ($105,681 - €92,232) and isn't earning his corn either but fingers crossed a deal is getting closer as Inter Milan technical director, Piero Ausilio, has been in London to try and move a deal forward for the Brazilian or for Lucas Lieva at Liverpool. Inter are manager by Roberto Mancini who has a very successful record in Italy and knows the Premier League well from his time at Manchester City, is looking for a defensive midfielder.

Paulinho hasn't been a success but a new club may be just what he needs to rekindle his flame and as long as Spurs get what we paid for him, which if other deals are anything to go by will be a basic £13 million ($19.63m - €17.13m) with add-ons, most of which will not have kicked in, then we can be happy.

Of course if we can't line up a replacement, and we want Rabiot on a temporary deal, then he may not be going anywhere.
