Konoplyanka not joining Roma

Stories have been circulating and the sheep have been writing that Yevhen Konoplyanka was on the verge of signing for Roma, although I read from the same sites he was on the verge of joining Spurs the week before.

Konoplyanka not joining Roma

As I wrote before, it was and is all complete nonsense, yes he has talked but there is no benefit to the Ukrainian winger signing for anyone right now, he can get higher wages in the summer when a club doesn't have to pay a transfer fee.

He has a buyout clause of £12 million ($18.25m - €16.06m - AU$22.93m) so the fake £7 million ($10.63m - €9.34m - AU$13.42m) bandied about was never a realistic figure, you don't pay £7 million for 3 months work. Any transfer fee is irrelevant anyway as it doesn't go in the players pocket so it's of no benefit to him at all.

He can and has talked to clubs now because he can sign a pre-contract agreement but he prefers to keep his options open and why not, anyone could come in for him. Some fans seem to think he doesn't actually have a choice he has to sign it seems.

His father, Oleg, is his agent so he knows exactly what is happening and he says his son doesn't want to move until the summer.

“He probably won’t sign the contract with Roma. What I can say is that Roma would really like him to sign it, but my son wants to stay at Dnipro until June and then leave.
“He wants to stay and I think he will very probably remain here until his contract expires.”

Tottenham are signing him, Roma are signing him, Everton are told Tottenham are signing him, Everton are signing him, Roma are signing him again, Konoplyanka is hoping Spurs come back for him, the press have really milked this non-story and so many have fallen for it.

The story starts in the summer.
