Daily Mirror suggest THBN ideas may be happening

Regular readers will recall I have written plenty about the poor mentality of our players and indeed the staff at Tottenham.

During the Spurs Need to go Mental 12 part series and again recently I wrote that the way we conduct transfers had to change. Spurs TV needed change and we need to introduce the Kaizen method of management. This is the same method Sir Clive Woodward used to win the Rugby World Cup and British cycling used to turn itself into the best in the world.

Part 1 - Spurs Need To Go Mental

I maintained that we need to mentally assess any new purchase before we spend millions of pounds to see what we are getting. Part 1 of the series written in April suggested that some of our purchases will not come good because of their mental attitude and we are now seeing that to be the case.

It is my view that a sports psychologist should be incorporated onto the transfer committee or at least his findings to stop us buying players who are severely lacking in the mental side of the game. I wrote that we need to become world leaders in brain training to give us the edge over other clubs especially as it would be inexpensive.

Body language can tell you a lot and by watching tapes and recording what a player does at a certain time you can build up a mental picture

The Daily Mirror have taken that idea and suggested that Daniel Levy is planning to 'tear up the scouting system' to avoid a repeat of the disaster under Andre Villas-Boas when £100 million was wasted on inadequate players.

They say Daniel Levy will begin a major restructuring of Tottenham’s scouting and recruitment procedures. They tell us that the club’s former head of analysis, Jonathan Beaker, has already left the club and moved to Australia.

It is gratifying that a national tabloid has supported my views and given the issue greater visibility because Daniel Levy must change Tottenham.
