Brahimi highly unlikely to arrive at The Lane

Last summer Tottenham were linked with Yacine Brahimi last summer but he eventually joined Porto for £5.72 million from Granada.

Brahimi highly unlikely to arrive at The Lane

I wrote at the time his release clause of £12.02 million was far too much for us to pay and now it seems we are on his trail again.

Napoli and PSG are said also to be watching the played voted the best African to have played in La Liga in 2014. There seem to be awards for everything these days.

Having signed for Porto the nature of their contracts mean he will have a high buyout clause and also Porto do not own 100% of him. Players from Spain and Portugal, and especially Porto, are often only part owned, which is illegal in the Premier League.

We saw the problems we had trying to sign Mateo Musacchio who was only 35% owned by Valencia, they wanted £17 million for their portion of him which would have meant a £50 million transfer fee. Joao Moutinho was also a Porto player who had third party issues, they wouldn't sign the paperwork to sell him.

Brahimi is under contract until 2019 so it looks unlikely that we'll sign him with no suggestion that Porto are even interested in selling him.
