Yedlin on loan until July 2015

There has been plenty of speculation over the right-back position at Tottenham with Kyle Walker being out for over 7 months now.

Yedlin on loan until July 2015

There is never any guarantee how a player will return after a groin injury or whether they have the pace they had before and pace is an ingredient needed by the modern day full-back, although Ben Davies is not blessed with it.

Kyle Naughton was the subject of a terrible Ryan Bertrand tackle that took his standing leg for which he escaped any punishment. Naughton had to leave the field and has damaged ankle ligaments so is not expected back before next year.

That leaves just Eric Dier, a centre-back to play there. Some have suggested Ryan Fredericks should be recalled from Middlesbrough even though he is not ready for Premier League football yet, while others have suggesting DeAndre Yedlin could cover.

Yedlin was signed in the summer for £2.4 million and is staying with Seattle Sounders until the end of their season, although technically he is n loan with them until July 2015. All the club have said is that he will join Tottenham before the start of next season so he doesn't appear to be an option for January.

“Right now, I’m just trying to focus on the MLS season — hopefully to win the Supporters’ Shield and MLS Cup."

He is hoping to play for the USA during this break as head coach Jurgen Klinsmann is giving opportunities to young players and Yedlin only broke into the USA set-up just before the World Cup so is hoping for more starts.

“It’s an honour to be called into any camp. I’m looking forward to getting back and playing with all the guys. It’s been a lot of fun. That’s one of my next goals. Anytime I have a chance to play for the national team — whether it’s as a starter or getting on the field — it’s amazing, but I’m definitely looking forward to starting.
“I think I grew a lot, in a sense that now I know I can do it. It gave me a big amount of confidence. Hopefully I can that into the rest of the season and my next step with Tottenham.”
