Soldado - The goals are coming soon

Jamie Redknapp gives an honest assessment that matches that of Jamie Carragher, an independent with no axe to grind against Tottenham.



To simply dismiss what they have to say as 'they don't know what they are talking about' is burying ones head in the sand, the are former professionals who know the game inside out and know what it takes to play successfully at Premier League level.

“They want to get back in the top four but at the moment they could not be further from it. They have struggled ever since they sold Gareth Bale and most of the men they brought in have not been good enough. 

“Spurs have spent plenty of money but how many of those transfers were for top-class players? Erik Lamela has not lived up to his billing and clearly Roberto Soldado is not the answer up front.”

The misfiring Spaniard feels the goals are just around the corner though and he does look more confident in front of goal than he did last season.

"We are producing some good performances and we need to keep this going. I am working hard and I think the goals are coming soon."

His shot falling with his foot that Joe Hart saved with his legs from a Danny Rose cross was a good effort. It wasn't a fluffed chance like last season but a good strike that wasn't quite good enough. It offered encouragement that given a run of games now the corner could be turned with a couple of strikes.
