Liverpool & Spurs harbour the same goals it seems

Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are constantly linked with the same targets basically because we both use statistics to partially evaluate players. Liverpool were, and I assume they still are, employing Ian Graham to run this side of things, he is the same guy who wrote the original system for the company we have been using, Decision Technology.

Everything gets a graded value, throw it all into a computer and you pull out players who appear to have the greatest potential to grow in value. That is of course a very basic way of describing the process but that's what it effectively is. It is no surprise then that we continually go after the same targets.

There is a comment on the This is Anfield website about how a fan sees the Liverpool transfer policy that rather sums up our own philosophy.

unfortunately Rogers is only interested in 20 year olds, no matter how good you are if you are in your late 20s he wont sign you, too bad

That is also our general policy, when we are linked with 28-year-olds it's usually just the press putting two and two together and you'll note these stories usually die a death. We are in the market for young players who will improve and we will make a profit on, hopefully one that will turn into the next Gareth Bale or Luis Suarez.

That no doubt was out hope when buying Erik Lamela, to turn him into a £60-70 million player which looks highly unlikely at the moment. Our one older player, Roberto Soldado hasn't adapted his game to ours and the money has been wasted, the club will be reticent to repeat the same mistake, instead now preferring to look for proven Premier League goalscoring experience.

Clubs are very much turning to youth now and especially club produced youth which will only kick in further as Financial Fair Play affects clubs and they work towards zero debt apart from a few clubs running on massive debts and complaining over the sanctions some of them then received.

Now what was I doing on a Liverpool website in the first place, well I was reading a piece for an article from one of their writers saying if he could have any player in the Premier League he would throw a hefty sum at Mauricio Pochettino for Hugo Lloris.

He went on to say Lloris was one of the best sweeper-keepers in the world, can't argue with his logic.
