Hugo Lloris to be rested

France are taking the opportunity to rest their captain Hugo Lloris for one of the games during the international beak we have just entered.

Hugo Lloris to be rested

Lloris has been getting plenty of game time at Tottenham, playing midweek as well as at weekends. He was outstanding against Arsenal, followed that up with another excellent display against Besiktas and then again against Southampton, when called upon he produced the goods.

French coach Didier Deschamps wants to give some playing time to another goalkeeper so Lloris will no doubt play the first game against Portugal on Saturday 11th in Paris at the Stade de France. Then 3 days later on Tuesday 14th October the French take on Armenia at the V. Sargsyan Republican Stadium in Hrazdan the Armenian capital.

Marseille's Steve Mandanda and Saint-Etienne's Stephane Ruffier will compete for a rare international cap which is good news for Tottenham with all the games Lloris has been playing lately.

It's a little easier for goalkeepers than it is outfield players but they still have to be able to switch on concentration at a moments notice which is mentally draining. Mauricio Pochettino looked physically drained after the Arsenal game but he was not one of the players running around, he was intensely mentally active, which can be more draining than physical activity.

He will still have the travelling to do ahead of Tottenham's next game against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday 18th October. That game is a lunch time kick-odd as well so as ever after an international break not a lot of time to prepare.
