Has Soldado has run out of excuses?

Roberto Soldado didn't touch the ball once in the Besiktas penalty box, now you can make all the excuses in the world but that is simply inexcusable for a striker.
I wrote during the pre-season tour that he didn't look as though he fits our new system. Outside the box, doing all the team work he looks good, he's probably the best crosser of the ball in the club but his role is to score goals. anything else is a bonus.
With an interchanging front four you need to take your chances when they come along but you also need to be creating your own chances and making the runs for your team mates to find you. Harry Kane collected the ball last night, turned ran, shot scored, he did it all himself. Soldado made a good run and was following up so should the keeper have spilt it he would have had a tap-in.
When a player is struggling the way Soldado is at the moment you take every opportunity to boost his confidence which is why it was inexplicable that we took him off against Nottingham Forest after he had scored a goal. He should have stayed on and been given the chance to grab another late on instead of replacing him with Erik Lamela, another player needing confidence boosters.
He didn't look delighted to be brought off last night and I fail to see the point in it considering we bought on Emmanuel Adebayor to walk around for a bit. Presumably he was there to win headers and hold the ball up a bit to relieve pressure on the defence except we didn't lay any long balls.
I am a Pochettino fan but some of his decisions are hard to fathom, others you applaud. he is learning about his squad i suppose, learning about his players. You only do that by putting them in situations and seeing how they react, both on and off the field.
He will have 2 years left on his contract in the summer and be worth half what we paid for him. Taking a hit on him has not been an option but we may have to, there are no more excuses left for him.
