Tottenham after 2 illegal players aparently

Why do week keep being linking with players who can't play for us? Jonas is suddenly a free agent after a spell with Valencia so naturally everyone speculates that Tottenham must obviously be after him, except for the fact that we can't play him.

Tottenham after 2 illegal players aparently

Now as Italian side Siena have gone into liquidation apparently we are battling it out with Newcastle for 25-year-old striker Innocent Emeghara, who although born in Lagos has represented Switzerland. He has scored 70 goals in 204 games in his career and 4 in 30 games last season.

Last season not great but a case has been made for both of them despite the fact it would be illegal for us to play either of them. According to Ladbrokes, Emeghars is a 'viable' alternative to Jonas because we are 'eager' to add a forward to our ranks. They have a funny definition of viable.

We have already submitted our squad to the Premier League. We are permitted to use 17 non-home grown players over the age of 21, that we must name, until January 1st 2015. Included in our maximum 25 man Premier League squad list were the names of 17 non-home grown players, thus we may not use any more. Both these players are non-home grown players, they are not eligible to play.

There is the UEFA Europa League I hear you cry, well we have given our list of players to them too but exactly how many games are there between now and January, six. Just 6 games and I'm assuming we are allowed to register them.

UPDATE: Having now checked that, we have registered 23 players so they could be registered for this competition without having to remove anyone from the squad.

If we signed either of them now they wouldn't be fit to play in the League Cup ties that are 10 days away. That leaves a possible 2 further rounds they would be available for.

There is the FA Cup of course but Premier League teams don't enter that competition until next year, January 3rd in the Third Round.

In total therefore there are a maximum of 8 games either player would be available for, now who in the right mind is going to sign a player to potentially, only potentially use in 8 games when you have to pay them 15 weeks wages?

Jonas is said to want £25,000 a week ($40,657 - €31,379) I believe which if correct would mean wages of £375,000 ($609,857 - €470,687) for a maximum 8 games which works our at a wage of £46,875 per game ($76,232 - €58,856).

Sound like common sense to you? Thought not.
