Spurs not to sign another centre-back?

26-year-old Mexico and Espanyol central defender Héctor Moreno has a fractured tibia (shin) at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. At the time his representatives were negotiating a move to Tottenham.
Moreno was a member of the Mexico under-17 national team that won the 2005 World Championship held in Peru. That may not mean much to UK fans but abroad youth football is seen as very important. Winning a major trophy against the best in the world in an experience that stays with you, it's a step up from. say a Danny Rose who has won nothing. That experience of winning makes it easier the next time and Spurs need winners.
The plan was to buy and experienced centre-back around 25 or 26-years-old and a young centre-back around 20-years-old. Spurs have now purchased the youngster, Eric Dier from Sporting, but as yet haven't bought the experienced defender.
Mauricio Pochettino has therefore been assessing his centre-back options. Moreno will be available in January when he has recovered and got some game time under his belt. Does Pochettino wait until the new year to buy a defender he has worked with before or does he forget about him and look elsewhere?
Dejan Lovren was another option but he chose to move to Liverpool in a £20 million move, Moreno would cost half that amount. If he is to wait until January then Michael Dawson is needed at Spurs until then, which would explain why he has played such a prominent role in the North American tour.

For the time being Spurs would have Michael Dawson, Younes Kaboul, Jan Vertonghen and Eric Dier, assuming they successfully manage to sell Vlad Chiriches. A place needs to be made in the squad for a non-home grown player thus a non-home grown player has to be sold, hence Vlad Chiriches.
While many fans will be expecting another centre-back signing I have a sneaking suspicion we will be looking long term and waiting until January to buy a player Manchester United have been following.

"I had things at a very advanced stage to leave. Certainly I was lacking the final approval, that Espanyol would allow me to leave, but I know there were proposals on the table for me to consider.
"I feel good and I’m getting better every day. I’m making good progress. Now it’s up to god and I’m confident about the recovery work I’m doing, which are long days and with six hours work each day.
"The aim is that if all goes well, I’ll be back in four months.”
