Performance Report
Roberto Soldado only came on as a late replacement and no no time to make much of an impact. His one contribution nearly led to a goal though. The ball went out for a throw in and his quick thinking almost put Erik Lamela in.He took a quick throw into space behind the defence that Lamela had seen and was rushing towards, the throw was just a little too hard, only a fraction, but it prevented Lamela being able to take the ball inside the QPR box with just Robert Green to beat.
That one incident showed that despite not being first choice, indeed arguably being third choice his head is in the right place. Even at 4-0 he was looking to have a positive impact, not for himself but for the team. That augers well and he will surely start on Thursday again in the return UEFA Europa League tie at White Hart Lane.
He scored in the first leg, he needs to do so again to keep and boost his confidence as well as say to the manager I should be playing or I'm ready whenever I'm needed.
