Player Performance
Lewis Holtby has, for me, been predominantly Erik Lamela's understudy in pre-season and doubles up as a central midfieder making him very useful to have in the squad. Many though he would start ahead of Bentaleb but and there were arguments either way, I sided with Bentaleb. After an hour Holtby cam on and indeed it was for Lamela, while Townsend came on at the same time for Lennon. Holtby always has a smile on his face, seems to love the club and likes the way the manager is going about things. He is a bundle of energy and at times was like a dog chasing a bone running from one player to the next when they passed in triangles.
He gives that energy when we need it, when the opposition begin to tire, having him and Townsend tearing about is the last thing you want. A hard working half hour that gave Danny Rose help and kept us fairly solid.
A player with passion and we love that at The Lane.
