Frederico Fazio 1.95m (6' 5") Fact File

Tottenham are thought to be giving a medical to Frederico Fazio in the next few days ahead of him signing a contract to move from UEFA Europa League holders Sevilla to White Hart Lane.

He was due to have contract extension talks but his agents cancelled them and he arranged to fly to London instead. A picture has emerged on Twitter  of him allegedly on a Ryaniar flight from Sevilla to Barcelona yesterday.

Frederico Fazio 1.95m (6' 5") Fact File

Tottenham had been pursuing Hector Moreno (Espanyol), who broke his leg at the World Cup, Dejan Lovren (Southampton), who went to Liverpool for £20 million ($33.14m - €25.03m) and Mateo Musacchio (Villarreal) who his club, despite only owning 35% of him, wanted 76% of the transfer fee.

As is the case with transfers, a list of targets were pursued with others on the list given notice of our interest and informed that there may be a possible deal later in the transfer window. Players then hold off on signing contracts. Fazio was offered contract extension talks at the beginning of the window with a big wage increase so Sevilla could insert a large buyout clause in a new contract, he wanted to keep his options open at that point.

His agent refused those talks and contract discussions were set up for this week if our interest, which the players agent would have known about, were not followed up. We pursued our preferred targets and when it became clear Villarreal were not going to come to a deal with the others owners of Mateo Musacchio we switched our attention to Fazio.
