Dier announced, Falque out, paperwork completed

We have tracked him for more than 2 years and now we have signed him subject to a medical, Eric Dier from Sporting for £3.96 million (€5m).

Dier announced, Falque out, paperwork completed

Most fans know nothing about him of course and plenty have never even heard of him. Followers of this blog will know him well and know he is very highly rated in Portugal. Dier is the young 20-year-old centre-back we have been after, even though most thought it was Jamaal Lascelles from Nottingham Forest we had agreed terms with.

Dier comes across as a level headed guy in the BBC Football Focus interview below which is similar to how our other new outtfield signing, 21-year-old Welshman Ben Davies, appears.

Next on the agenda is a centre-half about 25 or 26-years-old but there is a possibility we will wait until January for Héctor Moreno of La Liga side Espanyol, who has a broken leg at the moment. Espanyol are Pochrttino's former side so he has a good relationship with them.

Iago Falque has completed the paperwork and has left Tottenham for Genoa in Serie A. They finished 14th last year and have signed him for £4 million (€5.05m). Falque made just 1 Premier League appearance spending most of his time on loan.

His sale removes a non-home grown player from the books leaving us with 17 over the age of 21. We can name 17 in a Premier League squad so to buy we still have to sell.

From hat list Benoît Assou-Ekotto is favourite to go now we have 2 young left-backs, followed by Vlad Chiriches and Sandro, if we sign a creative defensive midfielder. That would give us some flexibility to sign the right players when they become available, Bony or Remy for instance.
