Player Performance
Danny Rose was a surprise to some when they sawthe team and he was selected at left-back but after his stand out performance against Schalke he deserved to start the season. He and Ben Davies have been on a par in pre-season but that final game he put a marker down for Davies to aim at.A London derby against a team we had lost to three times last season called for a little experience and that may well have tipped the scale as well, whatever the reason Rose didn't let anyone down. We went down to 10 men so attacking instincts had to be curbed and defending became the order of the day, not his strong suit many would say.
Apart from one challenge where he needlessly gave a free kick away in the first half he had a solid dependable game. With two new partners at the back (Capoue & Dier) he and Kaboul needed to play the senior figures and he showed Spurs fans today he can put in a decent performance when it matters.
