Player Performance
Last season Christian Eriksen was weak defensively playing in a wide position, he is much more at home centrally and hen we went down to 10 men after 29 minutes he dropped deeper into midfield and helped Nabil Bentaleb keep the centre of the field reasonably secure. He knows the role centrally and when he needs to he can defend better. His free-kick was poor and he played a couple of passes to create chances so can be happy with his overall performance despite what Ruud Gullitt thinks. Former Tottenham captain Graham Roberts took to Twitter and rubbished the Dutchman's comments that Eriksen was poor.
The first 20 minutes of any game is looking at each other especially in a new season, 9 minutes later we have 10 men and it's backs to the wall, what was the guy expecting? The last thing you want to do first game of the season is to have to play with 10 as you'll get tired towards the end of the game.
They had a couple of chances later on, we took ours, Eriksen played his part in our victory and dug in for the side, he'll be able to express himself more on other days.
