Player Performance
There will be many who will look at the impact Andros Townsend had and say he should start over Lennon however it is a squad game and Townsend played against 10 men when there was space between the defence and the midfield. Lennon didn't have that luxury, indeed he had to play as a defensive midfielder so comparisons can't really be drawn from this game.He looked better than he usually does coming on as a sub and he not only took his man on or cut inside to link play but he intelligently kept putting himself in the hole to wait for a pass where he could turn and shoot. He got off a couple of good efforts and was lively against their tiring legs.
Only 30 minutes work but a good 30 minutes work that augers well. It seems he is liking life under Mauricio Pochettino, being more interested than he was under Tim Sherwood.
