Spurs centre-back 2 to 3 weeks away from return

Bongani Khumalo joined Spurs in January 2011 for £1.5 million ($2.48m - €1.88m) after the World Cup in South Africa the previous year. He has never played a competitive game for us and I have been convinced from the start that he was a marketing signing to increase our popularity in Africa as well as a method of supporting his club Supersport United, who we have a partnership with.

When you look at where he has been loaned, at his age he isn't going to be a Premier League player, Preston North End, Reading, PAOK (Greece) and Doncaster Rovers. No doubt when he recovers he'll go on another loan spell. Clubs from the Football League Championship to the Football Conference can loan in players from 8 September to 25 November each year.

The 27-year-old central defender ruptured his patella tendon in South Africa's 5-0 pre World Cup friendly defeat to Brazil at Soccer City on 5th March this year.

He will return to training in the next couple of weeks, his agent Glyn Binkin confirmed to KickOff.com.

"He is two to three weeks away from starting full-time training. He is a Tottenham Hotspur player and there is no truth to reports of him leaving. He has a contract with the club until next season."
