Spurs still chasing PSG midfielder Javier Pastore

Tottenham have long held an interest in Argentinian Javier Pastore at French moneybags PSG.

Spurs still chasing PSG midfielder Javier Pastore

Liverpool, Manchester United, Roma, Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid are just a few of the clubs after the 24 year-old who has not been happy with the game time he has had. Pastore only played 8 full league games and 4 of those were in the last 7 games, clearly the club was trying to keep him happy.

Because he is usually a substitute he has also missed out on the World Cup. He seems typical of a player who goes to a club who pay big wages, happy to sit on the bench and watch football.

His agent Marcelo Simonian however says there is no chance of his client leaving PSG even though he has been disappointing since his £35 million move from Palermo in 2011. I'm sure his £66,000 a week wages when he joined and wage rises since have softened the blow of not playing.

Simonian responded to speculation linking him with a return to Italy.

"There is no possibility that Pastore will return to Italy next season. Pastore will remain 100 per cent at Paris St Germain."
Pastore himself has also suggested he is staying which rather suggests he is actually at PSG for the money rather than for football. Titles are irrelevant if you aren't starting games and watching your teammates win them.

"I don't have in mind leaving my current team. Where I am I can play and win titles, something that I had never been able to do in my career.

"In addition, I am in a giant team. It would be very difficult for me if I would have to leave PSG."

PSG have fallen foul of the UEFA Financial Fair Play regulations so without letting players go they won't be able to sign Eden Hazard from Chelsea, their number one target.

Pastore is an attacking midfielder or wide man who likes to cut inside. He passes well and is defensively strong, a good tackler, just what we need down our week left hand side.

Having tries several times to get him, even if only on loan, it looks as though we will be unsuccessful again.
