Hull chase Dawson and Rose

Hull City secured their Premier League status but missed out on the FA Cup after going 2-0 up against Arsenal. In their ranks was ex Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone and on loan from Tottenham midfielder Jake Livermore.

Both have had an excellent season and Steve Bruce has made no secret of the fact he wants to sign Livermore permanently. After a successful season on loan his fee has risen from £6 million to £6 million and such has been his impact that Liverpool have been considering a move.

The success of that pair has prompted the Hull City boss to look again at The Spurs squad to see who else he could get to move to make the move. BBC Humberside report that Steve Bruce has identified Michael Dawson and Danny Rose as two players he'd like to sign this summer.

Prising them away will be difficult with Spurs set to offer Rose an new contract amid interest from West Ham as well while Dawson is needed as central defensive cover with further new arrivals expected.

Jan Vertonghen has committed himself but there are question marks against Younes Kaboul and Vlad Chiriches. Franco Baldini is working on bringing in a replacement for one of them so losing Dawson would involve buying at least 2 new central defenders, not an ideal situation.

In addition all three players are home grown and would leave Spurs short of the home grown quota they require for next season, unless new signings are made of course

It looks as though Bruce has got his work cut out on this occasion.
