Spurs vs WBA away Preview
3 min read
A Spurs game on a Saturday to totally disturb the regular pattern of the weekend is welcome as we take a trip to the sunny Birmingham area in the West Midlands.
West Brom have scored only 1 goal in 9 of their last 20 home games plus 4 games without scoring so a total of 13 games where the home side has scored 1 or less. Of those 13 games 7 have ended 1-1, there were 5 defeats and just 1 win.
Tottenham have failed to score in 9 of the last 20 away fixtures, losing 5 drawing 2 and winning 2 of those 9. We have scored 2 goals 8 times in the last 20 away winning 6 and drawing 2 with 5 of those wins by a 1-2 scoreline. Thee have been 3 games in the last 20 away where we have scored more than 2 goals winning all 3.
Common scoreline therefore are 1-1 and 1-2 if you are looking at statistics for a correct score bet. It was 1-1 at White Hart lane in December, Tim Sherwood's third game in charge, Eriksen scoring from a free-kick.
Tottenham have not won consecutive league fixtures since the Sunday 9th Feb against Everton at home 1-0 and Wednesday 12th away against Newcastle United 0-4.
We have managed 2 consecutive wins once if you include Europe, our record since Newcastle in the Europa League (EL) and the Premier League (PL) reads:
L (EL) L (PL) W (EL) W (PL) L (PL) L (EL) L (PL) D (EL) W (PL) L (PL) W (PL)
Fair to say we don't draw many under Sherwood, it's either a win or a loss so does that make a 1-2 favourite?
This being Tottenham we do like to go behind first before we score so picking a first goalscorer is not as easy as it may first appear. Emmanuel Adebayor has scored 10 goals in 16 Premier League games so it's hard to look anywhere else really unless you fancy an Eriksen free-kick, should it be us who score first.
Adebayor has been on target 68% of the time with 19 out of 28 shots in those games according to the official Premier League endorsed statistics at EA Sports Player Performance Index.
Our opponents have had a fight in the dressing room just 2 weeks ago, 3 managers this season and the sacking of Nicolas Anelka for his quenelle gesture that has now embroiled our own on loan left-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto.
No nonsense Swedish defender Jonas Olsson is the corner stone of the WBA defence, results have picked up since he returned from suspension. Up front young Berahino, an England U21 international, has popped up with goals, he looks to be their main attacking threat while in midfield Frenchman Amalfitano provides the creativity.

Football wouldn't be football if we didn't have a player quote saying we are confident so this weeks offering is Paulinho.
"I didn't play in the home game, but I know West Brom are strong, a good team. We have to go there and play well, play the same as we did against Sunderland and then we can win this game."
I echo the thoughts of our Brazilian midfielder.
