Eriksen shines

For an inexplicable reason Sunderland employed the Tottenham tactics against Liverpool, give the opposition all the time in the world on the ball.

Where Liverpool exploited it against us so we exploited it against Sunderland. Our midfield pressed the Sunderland players in possession the way we should have done against Liverpool, the result was an easy night.

A Chiriches howler presented Cattermole with an empty net against the run of play. Spurs were pleasing on the eye and always looked capable of scoring, which they should it a side is simply allowing you to play.

Sherwood looked all at ease on the sidelines with a weight lifted from his shoulders now he knows Daniel Levy has always had the intention of appointing Louis Van Gaal in the summer.

It is thought Levy may have offered him his old technical director job back, a job Sherwood has previously said he would not return to.

Harry Kane who I wanted to see in this game had an excellent match and capped a fine display off with his first Premier League goal. It came from, who else but Eriksen who was the stand out performer for Tottenham on the night.

He capped his display off with a sweet shot into the corner of the net having crossed for both Adebayor's opener and the Kane effort. Given time he showed something the side has been missing in the last third with at least 8 telling crosses or through balls.

Aaron Lennon enjoyed a fine evenings work getting in behind the defence, having shots blocked and helping out defensively.

The defence had a reasonably easy night as a result of midfield pressing, it makes all the difference so you have to ask why they didn't do it against Liverpool.

Another youngster I have been advocating being given cameos came on for 8 minutes at the end, 18 year-old Serbian Milos Vejkovic.

Let's hope the remaining 5 games are as entertaining and that we continue to see youngsters making appearances.
