Saturday Football Tips
Another lifeless Saturday with no Spurs game leaving us with only minor football that often lacks any real interest. For Tottenham of course every game is a must win game, nothing short of 24 points will probably be needed for us to finish fourth.
I have run through the divisions and picked out some Saturday football tips to narrow down into bets.
Chelsea vs Arsenal is the early kick-off at 12.45 for all those that want to do their shopping. Chelsea don't lose at home under Mourinho, simple as that, we were the 73rd game in a row I believe. Thus Arsenal won't win. You could therefore back Chelsea on a double chance (win, draw) bet.
The late game at 5.30 is West Ham vs Manchester United. Not an easy game to call with West Ham and United both having picked up a little of late. I have a sneaking suspicion West Ham will sneak a one goal win but it's not a game I'll be going near.
The traditional 3 o'clock kick offs see 6 games so there is quite a lot of football.
Cardiff City vs Liverpool will only have one result Liverpool, but as I have shown in the half-time tables Liverpool lead the Premier League by miles on first-half performances. For bigger prices Liverpool to win the first-half or be winning at half-time bets look the way to go.
Everton vs Swansea looks fairly straight forward as well. Everton are a well drilled side who have games in hand to overtake us and move into fifth. They will be motivated as Europa League football will help their finances, which always seem to be in dire straights. They have to sell players to survive but certainly are able to find players who can play to a managers system. Swansea have been in free fall for a while and it looks unlikely they will have any joy at Goodison Park. An Everton victory is on the cards.
Hull City vs West Bromwich Albion is a game I can see going the way of the home side. Jake Livermore, on loan from Tottenham of course, is having an excellent season for Hull City and has formed a decent midfield partnership with Spurs old boy and former favourite Tom Huddlestone. West Brom are a bit hit and miss so predicting when they will pick up points is never easy. They have drawn 6 and only won 2 away in 14 games while Hull City have won 5 and drawn 4 from 15 games at home. That would suggest the best result for the visitors would be a draw but I think Hull will pick up the 3 points.
Manchester City vs Fulham is a mis-match. Fulham are bottom of the table with 11 points away from home in 15 games having scored 12 goals and let in 34. Their defence is a shambles at times and Man City have scored 71 goals to date. Their home record reads won 12 lost 1 with 43 goals scored and just 9 against. It is impossible to make a case for anything other than a hammering. I can easily see a 4-0 or 5-0 scoreline and Man City winning both halves. If he plays you would expect Negrado will be rubbing his hands at the prospect of taking on the shaky Fulham defence and looks an ant time goalscorer at better odds than a plain Man City win.
Newcastle United vs Crystal Palace you immediately think home win but life is never that simple for the Toon supporters. Their team blow hot and cold while Crystal Palace have become a better unit under Tony Pulis. They were by a long way the worse team in the Premier League under Ian Holloway but Pulis has made them difficult to beat. He has climbed them 3 places and they now sit a place above the relegation spots to give themselves real hope that they can survive. This improvement has generally come at home though, they have only 2 wins and 2 draws away in 14 games, scoring only 6 goals in the process. Newcastle have an average home record having won 6, drawn 3 and lost 5. Any chance Palace have of taking anything from this game looks to be keeping the score at 0-0. That may be the way to go for the speculative but I see a 1-0 or 2-0 scoreline to Newcastle United.
Norwich City vs Sunderland is the final game, a big relegation battle. Sunderland made the league cup final and teams involved in cups often suffer as a result. I think that will be telling in this game. Norwich City have two ways of playing, they can either put in a decent performance at Carrow Road or they look hopeless. Against fellow strugglers I think we'll see a solid Norwich performance but you always have to wonder where the goals are going to come from. They bought strikers and neither have produced the goods. I for one didn't want Hooper from Celtic when we were said to be looking at him and certainly not for the money being talked about at the time. Scottish players are often sourced from League Two so scoring goals across the border does not suddenly put you in Premier League class. Despite the scoring problems I think Norwich will win by the odd goal.
In the Championship I take Reading to beat Barnsley, Leicester City to beat Blackburn Rovers, Burnley to beat Charlton Athletic and Wigan to beat Watford.
In League One Wolverhampton Wanderers should beat Sheffield United, Gillingham to beat Crewe, Port Vale to beat Tranmere Rovers, Leyton Orient to beat Walsall and Notts County to best Carlisle United.
In League Two Fleetwood Town to beat Exeter City is the only game that appeals.
In Scottish League Two I take East Stirling to beat Queens Park.
All that is left to do is pluck out a decent few bets from the list and have a profitable Saturday.
