And I thought we were broke

Well, not really. We've spent big in the last few seasons and so I knew the statement Harry said about us "having to sell before we can buy" was complete tosh.

-£6 million on the Kyle boys (rising to £8 million)

-£9 million on Crouchie

-£8 million on Bassong

-£23 million outlay

And it doesn't stop there! We're apparently interested in this Sissoko chap. The Mirror said that we bid £12 last night, but his club want £15 million.

I couldn't find nothing on L'Equipe or any other article relating to this being true and let's not forget the most important element? Harry's famous phrase; "That Sissoko is a terrific player. I don't think we've made a bid for him. No, no, I'm sure we haven't".

Now, if we had heard Harry say that, then we'd know he'd be a Yid by the end of the week.

Thing is, I know nothing about this lad. Okay, so I know he's a midfielder, but that's about it. Anyone care to share any knowledge on him?

    He's also 19 or 20 and has broken into the French national team.

    Not worth 15 imo, well, not yet anyway.

  3. Why is it that Harry always defends his position in transfer dealings??

    I mean, I've actually heard him live when he's said that "he tells the chairman which players he likes and then the chairman does the rest. I've got nothing to do with it".

    Funny thing is that he's never provoked into saying something like this either, so what's he scared of?

    There's never any smoke without fire and I can see him getting sacked for taking a bung, sooner, rather than later.

    He's played 76 times for Toulouse, scored 7 times and has 4 assists?

    No wonder no one else is in for him.

    Jenas has a better goal/assist ratio.

  6. We sold Zokora before we did any business for nearly 9 million!
    That funded the 2 defenders and partly funded Crouch's transfer.
    Then Sunderland started talking with us about Bent, which is £10m ramping up to £16.5m in installments - so that pays for Crouch and whoever we need to get in. Bassong has not happened yet I have to point out!

  7. Anyone else sick of our transfer dealings??? We never seem to get what we need. Crouch for 9 million - couldnt that have been better spent on a left windger?? We havent managed to fill that position for as long as i can remember.

  9. You need to balance this out, we sold Zokora for roughly £8M and just sold Bent for £10M rising to £16.5M, So in reality we haven't actually spent anything this window.

    Old Levy hasn't done too bad I don't think.

  11. I've not seen this Sissoko play. Maybe he is the answer to the void left by Carrick?
  12. Better Return than Zokora, at least Sissoko can score, and 7 times as many as Zokora at that, although i don't know how many assists he has got for us probably 3. And we paid £8m for him. I think he sounds good, if he is half the player Michael Essien is then he's worth £15m, Essien hasn't exactly got a good return on goals and assists for Chelsea, and Nor did Palacios for Wigan, but Essien could play for any team in the world(IMO) and if we had Palacios and another as good as him, then Lennon and Modric would never worry about getting back, we could attack with 4 and defend with 6.
  13. Sissoko's a CDM and he'd be a perfect partner for Wilson in the middle. Personally I'd pay the £15m and watch him flourish in a Spurs shirt
  14. We did replace Carrick with Zokora then Palacios. Both defensive minded as was Carrick with us. We need to replace Berbatov with a skillful forward not Crouch and Pav?!?!
  15. Arry obviously wants an extremely solid centre, and if this dude is good enough for Arry then hes good enough for me. Basically i suppose i agree with the guy who said this central pairing would allow Modders and Azzer and 2 strikers to go and do their thing. I hope Bassong does sign too COYS
  16. We need, we need, the problem with us Spurs is that we seem to have lots of managers, who know exactly what we need and when... And they all talk exactly the same twaddle that got BMJ the sack. Let the club get on with it for once.
  17. Come on, we sold gunter for 1.75m, bent for rising to 16.5m, zokora for 9m so thats nearly 27mil and we have bought 23mil worth of talent so we made a profit.

    Our squad now is much stronger than the one that finished the season, Crouch was necessary as theres more to his game than bents, no defender seems to be able to handle Crouch, ask any Liverpool fan he did well for them up there and he has always been very effective for England, hes a very effective premier league striker that cant be taken away from him.

    Also with Bassong he can play center back and left back and the guy has a good record of steering clear of injurys whilst mentioning he is a very good defender.

    Zokora was never good enough and bent had nufin to his game other than snatching goals, in defoe we have the best at that so dont need him, and gunter aint as good as naughton.

  19. When did anyone say sell bentley? It's a poor article. We have sold before we bought. AND WE DO NOT NEED A LEFT MID FFS. We need a solid CM to play alongside or back up Palacious. We need a quick CD to slowly take King's place.

  22. Gah, I'd rather we keep Bentley, give him one more season to prove himself. And yes, I'd rather we get a CM to form a proper partnership with Palacios. Why buy a left winger when Modric can play on the left and Dos Santos has proven his abilities with Mexico. I'd rather we give Dos Santos a chance than splash the cash on Young or Joe Cole.
  23. I read some scout reports on Sissoko and from what I understand he preferably slots in the box-to-box role, meaning Jenas' position. He has pace and can push the ball forward and times his tackles well. Somebody mentioned in a comment above that he would play in the CDM position which I think we would leave that to Palacios as he is better built for it - Prem League wise.

    The negative point was that he still has a lot to develop in the decision making department. The lad is quite young so that should be expected.
