Does Keane know that he'll be warming the bench?

I wonder what Robbie Keane must be thinking at the moment especially with Peter Crouch just having signed up?

It looks as though our captain could be warming the bench for quite a while as it's plain to see that Harry likes using his own tried and trusted players. With Defoe and Crouch, he'll get exactly what he wants.

Unless we're planning on using the 4-3-3 formation, I can't see how Keane is going to fit into Harry's plans. A few mates have said that Keane will play in the hole behind D & C; but where does that leave Modric?

Pavlyuchenko should also start worrying to, for if Defoe and Crouchie strike up a good partnership (and Harry thinks they will), both Robbie Keane and Roman Pavlyuchenko won't get a look in.

I understand that today's football is based on a squad game, but don't fool yourself into thinking that Harry will chop and change the front two every other game. Keane and Pavlyuchenko may get a look in only during our cup-ties.

I suppose Keane could ask for a move up north to his other boyhood team, Celtic?

  7. really couldnt care less. if we made him wear the chirpy suit before matches he should think himself lucky hes anywhere near the pitch. Really have no more time left for the traitorous little liar who's shown everyone why Benitez didn't play him since he's returned to us. If Modric is left out to accomodate Keane, Redknapp needs to be put down
  8. You can't have 4 top strikers in the Premiership and keep them happy. This is true even for the top four, so where this leaves Citeh i don't know. I don't think Keane would have been first choice even before Crouch signed, so i could see him leaving in Jan with Pav and Crouch sharing the shifts alongside J Dizzle
  9. keane is the team captain, I think that would suggest he is going to be playing a lot of games
  10. All of this assumes that we will be able to get anywhere near the opposition goal. With Jenas, Huddlestone and O'Hara to power us forward I think we may as well leave all our strikers on the bench. Of course, Harry may have bought Crouch to play center-back.

  14. captain keano will play, and defoe will be warming the bench who said that redknapp will play crouch and defoe, keano is a smarter footballer than defoe and he aint selfish.
    I like defoe more than keano but redknapp will prefer keano over defoe.
  15. I feel that the countdown has started on a firework display at Spurs before the season starts. Harry is getting his brave up to strip Keane of the captaincy and ultimately show him the door. Much will depend on Viera coming to Spurs. Heresy, you may say but if he comes it will be as captain. Spurs are in the strange situation of having a vacumn of authority at the club among the players......few, if any, fit the bill as captain material. King, never a loud man can hardly make the field let alone be captain any more. Woodgate, a more natural leader has been passed over already by Harry.
    Crouch, Jenas, Huddlestone,Lennon, BAE, Corluka, Modric, Defoe lack the personalities to do the job while O'Hara has the heart but lacks the class to even be a starter. Hutton and Bent seem to be on the way out. Palacios sets the example but his lack of English communication skills rule him out at present.
    Keane has got to be the worst choice of captain I have seen at Tottenham since I started follow…
  16. To me it is Modric that has it all to prove. Despite the loyal haters, Keane has been central to pretty much everything that has been good about Spurs in the last 8 years and is a proven force in the Premierleague.

    Modric, on the other hand, is a bit younger and commands a lower transfer fee and is, in my view, unproven in the PL. I cannot see why a manager would have an unproven playmaker for an unproven partnership and leave his captain and proven PL force on the bench.

  17. A strong FA Cup run sounds good right now with Keane and Pav leading that charge. Remember what happened a few years back when Keane was left on the bench towards the end of the year in favor of Defoe and when he came on he still ran hard but hardly produced. The man simply doesn't have it in him to be a link up player (which he tries to do). Keane has one key attribute to his game, poaching. That does not equal to many wins for Spurs. Let him go, hand the armband to someone with onfield presence...Gomes anyone?
