Corriere dello Sport "Patrick Vieira to sign for Tottenham"
1 min read

The Italian radio stations have also run the story stating that "Vieira has announced that he will be leaving Milan and returning to London to play for Tottenham Hotspur".
"Vieira also has an option to sign for Fulham, but has decided to move to Tottenham Hotspur as he is personal friends with the Tottenham Hotspur head coach, Harry Redknapp", added the radio station.
Well, that is a bombshell! What do we actually plan to achieve by signing Patrick Vieira? If he does sign, what kind of welcome will you give him? I look forward to seeing what the Park Lane Enders have to say about this!

If so, we could have a strong central partnership, with our attacking strength coming from the wings.
we already have 1 great holding midfielder in palacios. we dont need this f***g gooner reject
I`m bigger than this club
He's a professional, and a top player with fantastic experience.
Is he the player he once was? No
Is it likely that he'll suffer with injuries this year? Yes
Neither of that changes the fact that we have a great crop of young players coming through, all of who could learn tremendously from one of the best midfielders of his generation.
Plus, he's got the stomach for a fight. WIth Wilson or JJ alongside (or both in a 4-3-3) you'd have plenty of leg work to compliment his experience and leadership, something we've badly lacked
I think this would be a great signing, though I remain to be convinced that it's real
We don't want to sound like West Ham fans now do we?
Cheers.
PS. I personally feel that he'll add a great deal of experience both on the pitch and in the dressing room. I'd sign him.
It's Blackburn all over again, but with an extra few zero's thrown on the end of each transfer fee and weekly fee.
Why don't you (and the other 300 hundred users that have commented on here today) get a username?
It's so damn easy to do. We're trying to build up a THBN community and it would help if the decent users got themselves a username.

For example, if they aren't 5th or higher by October, I can see Hughes getting the sack. Then where does that leave them?
You could always pull the comment if someone says "poo"
The Davids comparisons are interesting.
He was a year younger than Viera is now.
It's still poor fayre compared to the usual summer associations. Have we been guzumped by City, Everton and Villa? God help us!

By the way PoshSpur (Jaymes), I've seen the new THBN and I think you could have done a bit better.
Will you be making more changes to it or will it stay the way it is?
So, will you make changes to the site?
If any player, no matter who he's played for, gives his all for the badge and his teammates, then I'll cheer him.
Who would you prefer; a born life-long Spurs fan, aka David Bentley, or a player that could potentially be the player that drives us forward; Patrick Vieira?
I know who I'd cheer.
I don't want to be the one that spoils the party here, but we have to be a tad more realistic as fans.
Palacios is great, but he's not worldclass (yet).
Strange how fickle football fans can be.
I loathe the Scum, but to Vieira and many others it is just another Prem team.
He is undoubtedly past his best but has huge experience and could anchor (yes, anchor!) the midfield while Willie P pushes on.
Don't forget that he was the attacking CM at wigan whilst Cattermole played the defensive role.
Could be a neat move, if only in the relatively short term.
The real trick is to balance our investment between proven campaigners and top young talent.
We are working really hard on the latter - Alex Inglethorpe & Clive Allen's talents are close to paying big dividends - but we have 1-2 years "gap" before the Parretts, Roses, Archibald-Henvilles, etc make it through to the starting squad.
Let's trust in Harry and hopefully we will be pleasantly surprised.
Vieria would be good for the tuition of palacios and huddlestone as beckham would be for lennon.
I was very happy with the team at the end of last season and we really dont need any major tinkering. The nucleus is there so its over to Harry & his team to coach, motivate and demand success in every match we play. On our day we all know that we can compete with the very best. It's all about mentality & having the sheer determination to WIN!!!

1. harry has a proven track record of signing players that are gettin to the end of their carrers and gettin the best out of them
2. he will have similar effect as davids but better vieira is a world cup winner euro winner and would be brillaint with palacious
3. he is an excellent player and a huge presence to have in the team
4. the look on arsenal fans faces if their former captain signs for us and helps us to a good finish hopefully gettin a league win over them in the process
5. him being sold was the reason arsenal have been on a decline since the invincables season and they havent really had a player like him since im certain that some of them regret he was ever sold in the first place
i think people need to have a think about what good this would bring to the team if it was pulled off especially as a free transfer, and stop being so shallow as to think because he has …
The soul of tottenham hotspur our great club is being eroded. Re-signing keane was bad enough this will be the final straw if true.
I trust that our chairman has enough pride to veto any interest that harry may have in this player.
We need to look at the all the good things we could get out of having a player like Vieira on our books.
Plus, when teams like Man City are spending millions and millions of pounds, distorting the transfer market we should be grateful we are bringing a proven player in on a free transfer!
Have some pride in our club, signing an ex rivals captain who is well past his peak would make us a laughing stock.
Tottenham hotspur should be and are so much better than that.
We need to put the Arsenal rubbish to one side!
1, he has the t shirt
2,experience
3,redknapp is known to revitalise this type of player
4,he could add the grit to palacios
judge on the pitch.....
as it was with pat jennings and others.....
its no joke he knows all the big games!
1)he inheried a quality squad who were under performing becaue they wanted the manager out. Not becasue they were bad players.
2)9 points from safety behind West Brom with 30 matches to go,hardly tying to catch Man Utd!
3) A chairman that spends £50m in the transfer window.
4)the tightest league for years with teams cancelling each other out
5)We struggled to beat average/poor teams at home one nil, then we played a quality team like Man U & Livepool they spanked us.
Too many suporters do not have a mind of their own and believe the spin. Take the Spurs glasses off and you will see that Harry is not all that...he just knows how to manipulate the simple minded football supporter
2) if Vieria was to only play 19 league matches (away) alongside Palacios we could sneak a CL place. no Europe distraction this season (remember 2005/06)
and if Huddlestone shows no improvement after a season training with a player that has been a champion at 3 different clubs, they can both F*ck off next summer
Jol probably rated Davids higher than Carrick and JJ to play out of position
consider how much Hudd and O'Hara have learnt from JJ and Zokora in the last 2 years and what a Davids or a Vieira can bring ???
... and he has won 3 serie A titles.
admittedly he only played half of inter's league games in the last two years but that was partly due to injury.
i've got no idea if he'll be good enough but his experience would undoubtedly be helpful on the training pitch and I live in goonerland. it doesn't even matter if he's rubbish, just seeing vieira in spurs colours to remind them they haven't won a damn thing since they sold him will make me laugh.
Get a life
Three ways in: League, FA Cp or Carling Cup. We must be competitive in all three. The EPL looks tougher each year at the top, and with Citeh buying up all nad sundry, the top 4 now become the top 5. So, are we ready to challenge for a Campions spot aginst them? I say no, and that leaves us just 6th otr possibly 7th spot for Euro League. Vieira will pad out the squad, help along the youngsters, provide cover for the def MF and round everything up nicely to be able to compete in all three comps.
THE GOONERS WILL LOVE US SIGNING THIER PAST IT CAST OFFS.
THIS WILL BE A MASSIVE STEP BACKWARD FOR US, WHOS NEXT? SOL??????
Do I feel comfortable with the ex Goon in the team? NO
Would he be a good addition to the playing sqaud? Yes I think so if the price is right.
Would a world cup winner, Prem winner, League winner and model midfielder be a postive influence on Thudd. Palacios and Jenas?
Putting my predjudice aside, I expect he could help our players develop.
If he is fit and still has an engine, he could add solidity to a midfield that was often overrun last season.
