Ashley Young at Spurs Lodge - Let's be realistic!
Okay, before reading too much into the stories that have been doing the rounds about Ashley Young signing for us by noon tomorrow, let's lay down some facts.
Fact 1. Ashley Young couldn't have been at Spurs Lodge undergoing his medical for a couple of reasons. Firstly, he was at Villa's training complex this morning & afternoon (see images of him training on various Villa blogs, fan sites, etc.). Secondly, players don't have medicals at Spurs Lodge.
Fact 2. O'Neill has gone on record saying that Young is worth well over £30 million. Even if Bentley, Bent and Hudd were thrown in, we would still have to pay a kings ransom for him. Why on earth would O'Neill sanction the sale of his best player, and to us of all teams? We're in direct competition with them.
So then, if anyone has any real evidence that Young is about to sign, please let us have it.
I am sorry to be sounding so negative, but ffs let's be a bit realistic!
PS. By commenting "It's a done deal" doesn't mean it's so.

COYS
The Villa boss insists any offer for the wing wizard will be given short shrift by the club.
He told AVTV: "There have been a lot of stories about Ashley - and that's what they are - stories.
"The last time I spoke to Ashley and his agent none of this was at the forefront.
"I read every single day these articles about different clubs coming in for him, with swap deals mentioned. It's just pure conjecture.
"No-one has come in and asked us about Ashley Young and I have got to tell you, if they did they would get short shrift.
"I believe he can reach for the stars here. This football club has been fantastic for him because we have given him this platform to display his skills, excite the crowd and play the sort of football that he is doing.
"I suppose it's flattering that he's being linked because it shows how far he has come at this club. Sayi…
seriously tho wud b gd
i'd definately have him if we could conclude a deal for him under 28 mil
or maybe cash + a couple of players .
but the chances of this happening are so slim as the uproar at Villa would be immense if they sold to us! ....... they could probably justify selling him to Man U or Chelsea saying his head had been turned and it was veiwed as a step up .
unfortuantley though even if he did want to join us i just can't see it happening .... unless a ridiculous sum was offered .
and i can't see that it would be worth it no matter how much i rate the kid .
and am a bit worried that now Downing syndrome and Bastos have signed for other clubs we may go yet another season with no top class leftie (modders was quality there but Robben or young would be more natural).
heres hoping !! COYS
come on harry deliver us a Klinsmanesque signing !
even if i wish it did
And it was supposedly at some hospital anyway not Spurs Lodge.
If the above is true, does that make me ITK?
In my opinion, what is important is the fact that as Spurs fans, we need to be a bit more realistic.
Ask yourself; Isn't Ashley Young good enough to be at a top four side?
Are Spurs anywhere near being a top 4 side?
In my opinion, Young should be playing the Champions League.
As for the second question, we are nowhere near being a Champions League side.
To be honest, I can't see why Huntelaar would even want to sign for us, but that's beside the point.
We need to start being more realistic as Spurs fans.
just cooking up stories! levy is too tight to pay inflated prices! we will start season with shit strikers, no left midfield, and no cover for king woody or daws! what a load of shit! negrado is crap anyhow!
