Keane rumours gather momentum

Sunderland ITK's, Sundersmoothy & Makemitk have reported that Robbie Keane's agent, Struan Marshall, has been in talks with Niall Quinn over a possible move.

Robbie is thought to have arrived back in London after his holiday break. If there is any truth in these rumours, we can expect to hear a lot more on this story.

I think it would be bad for the team as a whole if Keano left. After all, who could we realistically get in so as to replace him?

Those of us at The Lane last season could see from his body language that something was off during the last few matches.

Let's just hope that he stays and works hard for the good of the team.

  2. I hope we get rid of the moaning git. He was toilet when he came back for us. Defoe is a better striker.
  3. I believe that once Keano left the first time, his heart left WHL for good. I love the guy but I think mentally he has just moved on after the intial move to Anfield.

    and with berba got 20 odd 2 seasons running these were his good scoring seasons

    for the sake of the team let modric play the hole role and pull the strings and get a decent target man, i remember when mido was the main man with defoe and keane dint get a sniff

    Robbie's heart left White Hart Lane when he left to go to Liverpool. Some say that his love for the game was squashed after the Liverpool debacle.

    Either way, he's not the same player he was. If we can get a decent fee for him (£15 million for example) I think it would be foolish not to take it.

The question i have is why you have these large chips on your shoulder for?? ok so he left for liverpool, then he came back and scored a few but wasnt as good as he was when he left. With a pre season under his belt though he'll be fine, yet still this vocal minority moan and keep the rumours churning. Grow up fro god's sake or support the scum down the road.
  11. Why do some people talk such crap about keane? Only scored with Berbatov. His name is Paddy Berbatov then is it? 40 international goals in 90 games, same as Owen. Scored over 20 in recent seasons mainly because spurs were actually in EUROPE. Thanks largely to him by the way. Always linked the play well and scored goals. Always good with a big man, just helps anyone playing with a top player suited to you.

    He was just in bad form end of the year after a nightmare year. He will be back to normal next year.

    He scores the same amount of goals as Defoe, and away from home and is way better in general play. Being left with just finishers and no link man will be a disaster. He's clearly the best striker we have as he scores and links the play.

    Correct. He is a shadow of his former self, and to reward the guy with the captaincy for his treachery is disgusting. 4 Goals in half a season is rubbish - especially that 2 of them were penalties.
    Even if he was a better player, he is keeping JD - a true YID who WANTS to be at WHL out of the team. 'arry won't/can't substitute him either, no matter how badly he plays.

    It's this kind of prat that sometimes makes me despair for our supporters. Our team captain, scorer of over 100 goals for our club and twats like you have got your knickers in a twist because he spent six months at his boyhood club.

    Seriously, grow a pair.

    He's the best striker we have and if we sell him again then we will look as dumb as we did the first time.
  15. i have no doubt that keane still has the talent but being mentally in the game is a huge element...i think he has lost that at Spurs...i apologise for the analogy here but its almost like leaving a long time girlfriend for that incredibly good looking gal who treats you like s*** and dumps you back to your sorry ex who was begging for you back. it just isn't the same anymore that second go-around. i truly believe his experience with Liverpool really hurt him. he was a shell of himself for virtually half of a season. now i'll never talk trash on the guy, I like him a lot, but things change...i'd be surprised if he finds himself again at WHL...but if he does i'd certainly welcome it.
  16. If u believe the rumour mill the only forward we are keeping is Defoe I would b very suprised if keane does go and anyone that wants him gone must b mad he is more than just a goalscorer links play etc...I want him to stay and don't think arry would let him go he made him captain after all
  17. We don't need to replace him. Defoe is a far better striker.

    We could do with another big strong type striker though.

    If Defoe got injured, Modric could fill in as second striker behind an 'out and out' striker.

  19. 100 plus goals he gets my respect as its a feet mpt many in a spurs shirts has done but he looks a shadow of the former player and to come back in the mannor he did he was never gonna be the same player..if he goes good luck to him 15mil and some great goals scored.....shame about how it all ended......

    That really is the choice if we want to play 2 up top with Defoe being one of them
    My choice is Modric. Keane has been a great servant but like earlier posts point out his heart left WHL last year

What we have to remember here is that although Keano's misery at his Liverpool experience, was partly his own doing, but such an experience(when seemingly he did nothing wrong, 7 goals in half a season not an awful record)must have shattered his confidence. Having said that I think he played quite well for us and his link up play and vision was pivotol in our run in. Lets not be too quick to criticise him, just because he jumped ship a year ago. Apart from anything else, would the F.A sanction a 3rd transfer in 11 months, me thinks not.

    I hope Keane does leave. He's far too good for you c&$ts. If you ask me the reason he didn't score more before berbatov arrived is that your general team was shit. You just happened to get lucky and at the same time picked up one or two good players and a good manager in Jol (totally by accident by the way). This allowed all of your 'good' players to raise their game. Us gooners were actually getting worried for a while until your tool of a chairman did us a favour and ducked you up !!!!

    As an outside observer it looked to me that Keane was being asked to play deeper when he returned, changing his game and sacrificing some goal scoring glory to help dig you tossers out of the shit. No wonder no one wants to go to your club. I also doubt if Defoe would have been willing or able to do it for you.

  23. There was a reason why the poor wee mite was sold in the first place. It involved much of the green stuff allied to the fact that he wasn't half as good as he thought he was.

    His Tottenham time has passed, it was a mistake re-signing him, though if we sell him for more money again it will be a very tidy piece of business for Mr Levy and may fund a move for someone half decent

Dont be fooled by robbie keanes form when he came back the only players that could give him is pass that he scored against liverpool.Whas tom huddlestone and moderic in other games tom dident play and moderic whas to wide robbie needs the ball to run onto and if you look at other games that hudds played robbie whas just a smigen away from spectacular goals of toms passes .Harry will realise hopfully in the close season how good tom is at creating with palacios alongside him.Ask pearce who he missed most in the final apart from a good goaly it would have been tomes passing to wallcott and johnson. KEEP KEANE AND THE HUDDS OR WHEREVE THEY GO WE WILL LOSE POINTS .THAT IS A FACT

    This close season has been pretty boring for us as we've only been linked with 73 players. Imagine just how boring it is for the Woolwich Wanderers?
