Could Keane Go?

What do you make of the related stories regarding Sunderland wanting Keane?

It seems obvious that playing just Defoe and Keane up front simply doesn't work. Also tie in the fact that Robbie didn't look himself in the remaining last few games of last season.

This could all just be paper talk, but if it was true, how would you feel if Robbie Keane was sold?

Personally, I wouldn't mind if we could bring in one of the linked strikers.

  1. I never wanted the turncoat back anyway. So if he buggers off to Sunderland, I won't be too fussed. It wouldn't surprise me if he cam out and said he was a boyhood Sunderland fan as well...

  7. Defoe and Keane can't play together. I think Defoe is the better striker, he is also more loyal and looks in top form. Keane was a desperation signing bought as cover for Defoe's injury. If the money is right we should send Keane packing. In any event, if Keane starts playing well he will demand another move to one of his other "boyhood" clubs.

  9. why has no one spoken about the squad as a whole...i wouild play luka behind the front 2 that frees up the left handside..robbie scored over 100 goals for us for that he has my respect whatever he did he was a spurs hero..so less of bad vibe..and you no what get behind the fucking team instead of talking crap....infact do any of you go to the games?

  11. sunderland fan here. trust me, you do NOT want Cisse. he is an ego-maniac and over estimates himself. team player he is not. poor at holding the ball up and not so good in the air(apart from at white hart lane..sorry !)Jones will come good again i believe. spent most of last season recovering from a cruciate injury and playing in a struggling side.

  12. If we want to break the top four, keano isnt up to the grade im afraid, sorry!!! Proven at liverfool. we need to devlop balance, not linger on the nostalgia of him when berba was beside him. Yes he does wear his heart on his sleeve, yes hes not a bad player, i just dont see where he fits in to our team with JD back. The way keane wishes to play is like a poor mans wayne rooney. with our quality in midfield he has no need to come and collect the ball like he so desires, which is why defoe will score 20 PL goals next season by the way, he wont, neither will he provide as much as azza or modders.
  13. He is a proven quality player but my impression is that defoe is no 1 choice and two small players together, combined with midgets lennon and modric isnt ideal. Our most successful recent partnerships have involved a small player (keane or defoe) in partnership with a bigger stronger player with aerial ability/skill/ability to hold the ball up (mido then berbatov). If we have to sacrifice keane to accomodate that type of player, so be it - I dont mind who goes if they are replaced by a better player. The other benefit will be that keane demands to be number 1 - an automatic choice - and hates to be substituted, so keeping him does not allow as much tactical flexibility as Harry would no doubt wish. If he goes I'm still grateful for all his goals over the years plus coming back and helping to turn our season around after harry's first choice (defoe) got crocked. keane would love it at sunderland where he would undoubtedly be top dog (if he goes). anyway I wont get too stressed …
  14. If it is for the team's best interest, then so be it. I mean, when it was in his best interest he left for Liverpool. He should respect the fact that we are building a team that will hopefully contest the top 4 in the coming years. I respect and love Keano but the team is why I chose to hold him with such high regard in the first place.

Please try and edit out the rubbish. You are giving yourselves a bad name.Robbie Keane is Tottenham through and through. I wish all the players had his level of commitment.He has only just come back to us, a few months ago, and helped us substantially to improve and survive in the Premier League. We need to move up to a higher level and bring in some better players which we are trying to do.Keane will, hopefully, be part of a much better squad. Let's back the management and stand together with them. I have been a Spurs supporter for over 50 years,through good and bad times.
  16. Keane has been pretty much awful since his return.He can't play with Defoe and the "undroppable" captain status he has is really pissing me off.

    £15 million will do nicely.
