Pointy Shouty Bloke Returns

It's official; our very own runway traffic controller has returned.

If no amount is quoted to the stock exchange tomorrow, we can assume that the deal to bring back our vice-captain was less than £10 million.

Was it a wise move? Where does this leave Defoe? And what happens if his other boyhood team, Celtic, come in for him at the end of the season?

  4. I see the hostility towards Keane but beggars can't be choosers and right now we are beggars. I can't think of anyone I would put more money on to keep us up, although I would have much preferred have a manager with a scouting network and some degree of tactical ability to provide a more attractive forward-thinking solution.

    Also - I think people make too much of this whole Defoe link-up thing. Defoe is out for the majority of the season and we're in a relegation scrap - do the math.

    The real question is the future of Luka 'flashes of brilliance' Modric - IMO he is Inter bound next season. Jose has been sniffing around him ready to make his move.

    If Defoe is fit, it'll be Modric who warms the bench with Keane playing behind the front 2...

    And finally - don't forget Redknapp has a £1m bonus for survival - that is all he cares about. He'll spend £100m if it makes that paycheck more likely to appear... and then blame the board for not giving him the cash to ge…

  6. Yep and I also reckon the Defoe Keane partnership was never really bad like people have made out.

    They are quite different players when you look at them its just that Keane is obviously going to be the floating player moreso and that leaves Defoe up top highlighting how ineffective he is as a 'target man'... Answer, dont hoof long balls up to him from the back, get it down and play it in from the wings or through Keane!
  7. Stupidest move of the window. We were told he coulnt play with JD when we last had them both now in the same window we pay over 30m for a strike force which is not compatible.
  8. I think that Robbie will fit in very well with Pav and also with Campbell and Bent ...... I think as usual, that Defoe will fit in with .... Defoe, and with that linesman he really likes - you know, the one who who keeps waving at him with his flag. I think that Harry is a clueless twerp who likes doing deals (,,,,), but with a bit of luck Robbie will now persuade a few players to start trying again, Defoe will get the sulks and leave, Harry will retire, Martin will return, and we'll turn back into a football team ....... Please!!
  9. It seems some people have forgotten that u gave us 6 fantastic years. Liverpools loss is our gain. He could've stayed at Liverpool and sat on the bench. Taken the money, But no he came back to a club that is currently more likely to see championship than champions league.

  10. This transfer window is absolute madness. We are now going to have £30million of strikers on the bench and championship players in other positions.

    Words and actions do not seem to be adding up at Spurs:

    "Squad too short" - buy more little players. "not enough left footers", we buy a right back and attempt to get rid of Dos Santos, "balance, balance, balance" - we disrupt the parts of the team which work and leave gaping holes that have been exposed years ago. None of this is making sense on a football level, especially in the long term.

    The only transfer which was absolutely necessary is Palacios (but £14mil???).

Defoe bangs in 3 goals in 3 games and you're still not happy. Even your favourite, Martin Jol, said he was the best goalscorer at the club... while leaving him on the bench.
