Why Jones?

So many rumours float around White Hart Lane that it's sometimes too difficult to stay on top of them all.

The one I found interesting was that Darren Bent had stopped working hard in training and his performances had dropped when he knew Defoe would be returning. I didn't find the accuracy of the story strange, but that it had gotten out.

For me, the above was no mere rumour, but looks to be leaning towards fact. Bent clearly has a problem at the moment, and Harry wants shot of him.

It troubles me though to think just how bad the dressing room is for Harry to want to have to swap Bent for another striker? After all, Bent is now third in the pecking order and so shouldn't be so high on the transfer priorities of Harry, or should he?

Something tells me that all is not well in our club's dressing room at the moment. If Bent is the cause of the unrest, then yes, get rid of him. But if not, surely the Spurs side needs strengthening in other areas?

  1. Forgive me if i'm wrong here, but i think it has something to do with defoe doing bents mrs before defoe left the club. if so bent should just lamp him & be done with.
  2. Bent is a confidence player. His form has yo-yo'ed this season and tbh, we should cash in and try something new.

    We have to survive, so if Jones is the perfect foil for Defoe, then let it happen.

    At the minute, the more new blood we get the better.
  3. weve bought enough flops and we dont need jones to join them, we need big names who have proved themselves, we should hijack the arshavin deal thats what we should do
  4. I feel that strengthening our left side of midfield is of a higher priority at the moment.

    You are right Spooky, Bent is a confidence player, but I am sure that he can do a job when called upon until the end of the season.

    After all, I don't think that he'll get much of a look in until the season ends.

Bent wouldnt be missed, average player that we got suckered into paying well over the odds for, why not swap him for Jones, Just wish Sunderland would stop bleating, do you not know how the game goes?? you find a good player then a bigger club comes in, turns his head and you have to sell him, simple. Stop moaning about it, Man utd do it to us, Real Madrid to it to them and now we are doing it to you. simple

  8. Play Arshavin on the left wing.
  9. We don't have that kind of cash. Arshavin is nearing 28 and Zenit want around 22 million for him.

    He doesn't play on the left wing btw, but fits into a 4-4-1-1 formation, playing just behind the striker.
  10. so you add asshavin on the lft for another midfielder that doesnt track back to the already shite midfield. may score more goals but aint improvin the team where its needed, thats the spine
  11. any team needs two qaulity centre backs that play games together not one in two. WP should be the drive in MF now we needed a real target man/finisher to compliment defoe/pav

  13. But you can only play Defoe & Pavlyuchenko. We do not need another striker, unless the striker we are going to buy is actually better than D & Pavs.
  14. Isn,t it about time we stepped back and looked at Redknapp? When he came he said that our squad was talented now he says that they are weak. How is that for man motivation?Can anybody tell me what system he wants us to play? We used to criticise Jol for he lack of tactical awareness and his use of substitutes! The worst team I saw at the Lane last year was Portsmouth who did not have a clue. my fear is that he will tun us into an African Nations team with all effort and if we go for Jones then that is the second step he has taken down that path.
  15. Kenwyne Jones is from The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, which happens to be in the Caribbean, not Africa.

    Are you implying that you don't want black players at Spurs? If so, please never post on this site again.

  16. When Redknapp came here it wasn't the transfer window and now it is.This explains the change of tone. Expect the original tone to return after February 2nd.
    I am also concerned about some of Redknapp's selections & think we need another defender and a good left winger to complement Lennon/Bentley.I think Bent's most recent performances have been reeally disappointing & this explains why 'Arry is after Jones.

  18. Why do we need Arshavin? We have enough flair players; especially those with attitude issues. We need the defensive side of our midfield strengthened, we need a left-back to cover or exceed Assou-Ekotto and we need a left-sided midfielder.

    Fair enough Bent is a confidence player, but we need a player who can rise above that. Jones is confident in his ability and doesn't seem bothered by the stage he is given to perform. It is unfortunate that the price tag has weighed him down. If this is the response that he gives towards competition then its time to move on. Kenwyne Jones is a handful for defenders to deal with and would be the idea foil for Pav or Defoe.
  19. look redkapp is after players who can muscle the opponents off the ball and to muscle there way into the box, simple as we need strength in the team, at the moment its to light-weight, hence he signed palacios because hes a hard tackler and can play, hence after jones as hes a hard striker in other words hes a damn handfull and hard to tackle when he has the ball he also tracks back, as some one else posted a team needs a spine and thats what 'arry is trying to build so stop wanting flair players when they wont do us any good for gods sake we have enough of them already
  20. Dont know why Spurs fans are falling into the Media trapp?

    Spurs DO need a right full back,a left winger a back up centre half and a tall,good in the air striker who can hold the ball up front ,who also puts pressure on opposition centre halves which will allow us to control the game and we will get our Spurs back in no tiime pushing up the table.

    At the moment we have no one holding the ball up front and every ball we pass forward is coming straight back at us which causes our already weak in tackling midfield being completely non functional.

    Jones type striker will also do world of good to Modric as he will help creating a lot of space for little Croatian to play his game and do what he is best at.

    At the moment we cant accomodate Modric and only way for him is leading to Serie A with Juve.

    I am behind Harry 200%, he will get his own team assemled and playing together by the time the new season starts and we wont look back.

Chimbonda back gives us two steady centre halves one will be Corluka, a brilliant buy! the other Woody if he stays on form and fit,or Dawson who is reliable, King for experienced ever ready back up! I'm getting fed up with Bent, and I've always thought he would turn it on in time which runs out end of the season for me! Why dont Harry play Gio on the left, I'm sure he can solve our left wing problem, he can beat a man and provide a good left sided pass/cross.... he came on at man u was shite on the right, we were a bit messy formation-wise for the last half hr... on the left he was better! Play Gio and Palacious instead of gormless, non offensive Zokora and we will be fine... simple!
  22. There's no glue in ur team. The biggest cartoon team in the Prem, over rated, over hyped. Hope u lot go down, really fed up with SpurzzZ.
