Defoe; "I'll sign for Spurs"


Former Spur striker, Jermain Defoe, is said to have informed family members that he has played his last game for Portsmouth and will be moving away from the South-Coast club in a deal that will take him back to Tottenham Hotspur.

Harry Redknapp will make Defoe his first signing since joining the club. A source close to Jermain Defoe commented on the England international this afternoon by adding that Defoe "absolutely loves Tottenham and he's got a lot of mates there".

Expect an announcement from the club shortly.

  14. 11.50 I was at Fratton Park that day and I thought the energy used by the anti Sol chanting would have been better served had it been directed at supporting the team. However, to generalise that all Spurs supporters are filthy lowlifes is showing your own blinkered view which is just a bad as the people you aim it against.

    The press twisted the context of the chanting regarding racism. I think it's hard to argue that football is not inherently homophobic, can anyone think of one openly gay Premiership footballer? Or any pro footballer for that matter? Law of averages dictates there will be more than a few.

    Anyway I think Campbell, the press and Redknapp should all stop whining about the abuse dished out. Had Sol acted with a little more honour & honesty as opposed to the greed Sky Andrews his Mr 10% (& the rest!) instilled in him he wouldn't have this problem.

    FYI - I wouldn't be surprised if Defoe resigns for us, afterall he is a Yiddo!

    Because of this, you chant anything derogatory in order to unsettle the player in question. The harsher the comments, the harder the kick behind it.

You say the image of a black man hanging from a tree is racist but there is no mention of him being black anywhere in there and it is of no matter. He could have been purple and it would have made no difference. And does the fact he is a multi-millionaire mean he doesn't need help? Did Gazza not need help when he was a millionaire? And unless you know him personally you have no idea if he is unstable. The song is not very nice and is rather insulting and personal but then again, neither was what he did to Tottenham. Fool.

    Those who think it has racist connotations are racist themselves and are suggesting that only black men have ever been found hanging from a tree! In reality, plenty of people from all different backgrounds have hung themselves from a tree since the dawn of time I would imagine.
