Agent claims Spurs interest
Paco Casal, who represents Porto's left-wing sensation, Cristian Rodríguez, has stated that numerous clubs are interested in the Uruguayan footballer, and has said that Tottenham have shown "a very big interest in Cristian".
Rodríguez only moved to Porto in July but seems to have fallen out with his manager, Manuel Jesualdo Ferreira.
Cristian Rodríguez is an extremely quick left-winger and possesses a lot of strength when going forward. He is predominantly left footed and does prefer to play on the left-wing, although he has been used as a wing-back and has played just behind the striker. Being 23, he has yet to reach his peak.
With Harry Redknapp on the lookout for a left-winger, Cristian Rodríguez looks like the type of player Spurs fans would love to watch down at The Lane. With reports on Stewart Downing failing to cool down, Redknapp may be forced to look at other options, especially after Middlesbrough slapped a £15 million asking price on the youngsters head. To see why Downing isn't worth £15 million, please view the THBN article; Stewart Downing is no £15 million player.
As regards Rodríguez, no price was quoted unfortunately, but he is rated in the £10 million bracket. That would be a coup for Porto, who got him on a free from Paris Saint-Germain, after he had a loan spell at Benfica.

The thing is, Downing and Rodriguez are two very different players.
Downing is not a winger. As far as I know, wingers have pace, and flair. Downing possesses none of those qualities.
He is a good player, but do we need a left sided midfielder at Spurs, or do we need a left winger at Spurs?
I personally would prefer a left winger, but that's up to Harry to decided.
If Rodriguez does interest Harry, then he would make a great addition to our squad, as would Downing at the right price (which should be lower than 7 million in my opinion).
We need a solution for the left side of our midfield, be it a winger or standard midfielder.
Let's just hope that Harry can bring in the right man.
