Spurs Sign Croatian Ace - More Players To Come!

Vedran Corluka, 22, has finally arrived at The Lane for a fee believed to be £8.5 million. Some sources claim that this deal was done weeks ago.

Whether or not it was done weeks ago is no concern of mine as all that matters right now, is that we get a balanced squad, that can gel quickly.

Corluka will slot in at right-back while Hutton recovers from his foot injury. The club said that they wouldn't rush Hutton back and the Scottish International could be out for a further 4 weeks.

The tall Croat defender can play anywhere across the back four, and in central midfield, although his best performances have come whilst playing for Croatia in a right wing-back position. He will provide the cover that has definitely been lacking.

The following players are also apparently on our radar before the close of the transfer window at midnight;

  • Maroune Fellaini (defensive midfielder, valued at £11 million by his club, Standard Liege)
  • Miguel Veloso (defensive midfielder, valued at £15 million by his club Sporting)
  • Diego Milito (striker, valued at £7 million by Real Zaragoza)
  • Sergio Garcia (right winger/forward, valued at around £12 million by Real Zaragoza)
  • Frazier Campbell (striker, valued by Manchester United at £5 million)

Should be an interesting 10 hours! I feel that we will sign Diego Milito and either Fellaini or Veloso.

I can't see us signing Arshavin now.

  1. The latest is that we won't sign veloso unfortunately as Sporting want £25 million for him.

    Falaini is a likely player and can be purchased as a def midfield.
  2. Veloso and Corluka have the same agent and Veloso is worth £25m easy anyway so shouldnt matter. We were told there wa around £50m in the kitty before the start of the window, with the sales so far we were at +£5m before the sigings of Corluka and Pavlyuchenko, which total just over £20m, so therefore, we still have somewhere in the region of £30m to spend, regardless of Berbatov staying or leaving. Splashing out £25m for Veloso would be a wise move and one that would really see us push the CL clubs. Please Spurs dont Jew us out on this one, you dont normally :) YIDS!!!
  3. Do we need really need a defensive midfielder? I know there are doubts over Jenas / Zokora / Huddlestone but Zokora had an awesome game against Chelski and seeing as all three have signed new contracts this summer and Corluka can play there two i dont think we'll be seeing anyone else for that position.

    Corluka has been great for City in their openening games and im really pleased we got him, proven in the prem and Modric's best mate as well as comfortably slotting in when any of the back four are out. Great signing! Another forward signed and we could actually consider this a successful transfer window!

  5. Does any one else think that any move by Man city for Berbatov should be dismissed out of hand?? I do not care how much money they offer, selling to any PL team would be bad enough but I personally would sell him to utd for 20million than even 35million to city. They are a team in direct competition with us for top 6 finish and even higher and selling them him would just be about the money and excepting the fact we are now a selling club.
