Spurs right-back, Pascal Chimbonda, is close to a £6 million move to Newcastle.

Spurs have accepted the bid placed by Keegan's side and talks are underway.

If all goes as planned, Chimbonda will be a Newcastle United player.

  19. £5 million would be a reasonable price in today's market taking into account his age as he remains one of the better proven players of his position. However his attitude is not too good. Unfortunately, I suspect he would only go to Newcastle if they were to give him an incresed salary.

  34. I published this article based on the word of 2 Newcastle United ITK's that have been basically right in the past.

    They are adamant that a deal will be completed soon.

    I was told that Newcastle put in a bid for around £4 million in January for him and that Spurs declined that offer, asking them to come back with a better offer.

    They apparently came in with a £5 million bid last week which again was declined. Hence the £6 million bid a couple of days ago. That's all that I heard. Nothing more, nothing less.

It's all well and good people griping that Chimbo's agent said £2m and therefor this story is rubbish, but Villa have had a bid of £3m refused and being the hard bargain drivers Spurs are known to be, a fee in the reigon of £6m isn't as ridiculous as it sounds. The Toon may well have a right back but chimbo has proved he can play well at centre back as well as doing a job at left back, he'd be a good addition to one of the premierships worst defences!
