Capel prefers to stay in Spain - Agent

Spanish newspaper, Marca, has stated that Spurs are extremely interested in Sevilla's left-winger, Diego Capel. His agent, however, has rubbished the chance of the highly talented player joining Tottenham Hotspur.

In an interview with Marca, Diego Capel's agent, Rene Ramos, stated that Diego [Capel] has an exit clause in his contract with Sevilla. The clause is €12 million (approximately £9.5 million). Mr. Ramos went on to say;

"Diego may or may not be leaving Sevilla. His future has yet to be arranged as Mr. José Maria del Nido (Sevilla's president) has yet to offer my client a contract that he is worthy of."

When asked if the rumours about an exit clause were true, Rene went onto comment;

"Diego's current contract has a legal exit fee that is €12 million. If a club wanted to talk with Diego, they would first have to prove that they can pay the entire fee to Real Federación Española de Fútbol (Spanish F.A.) and then would arrange to negotiate a contract with my client. If we agree to negotiations with a club, Diego's registration will be surrendered by Sevilla."

"Two English Premier League clubs have shown an interest in Diego as well as Real. No club has yet to make their definite interest known with a bid to the Real Federación Española de Fútbol. All the clubs interested know what they need to do."

"Diego is not to sure about leaving Spain though at this point in his career. He is still young and would welcome a move away from his home in the future possibly."

So there you have it. Maybe all of this talk by his agent is to get Sevilla to up the money on a new contract. After all, Diego Capel is a die-hard Sevilla fan as well as being a local of the Andalusian club.

If the reports that we are prepared to make the €12 million bid are accurate, there maybe a chance that he will come to Spurs. He would solve the left-wing position and should slot easily into the way we play thanks to Juande Ramos, who was once Capel's manager at Sevilla.
