Berbatov - Staying or Leaving?

With AC Milan pulling the plug on signing our world-class striker and no other firm bids being placed, it seems as though Mr. Berbatov will be staying at White Hart Lane, or does it?

I feel that there's no shadow of a doubt that he'll leave. It's been said that our chairman, Daniel Levy, has even told the player that he'll be allowed to leave this summer. Well if that's the case, why is he still around?

He's still at the club because we finally have a chairman that has some sense. Why sell a player that you know you can demand top-dollar for before getting a replacement?

It would be ludicrous to sell him for the reported £30 million and then go out and buy a striker. Clubs would hike up their prices because they would know you have the cash.

I honestly can't see him being sold until we have a firm, world-class striker in to replace him.

Ramos will only demand the best and I feel that a striker in the Berbatov mould will be purchased soon. Who that is, is anyone's guess?

  1. Get shot. He obviously doesn't want to play for us. All he'll be is a rotten apple... And worth bugger all before we know it.
  2. If we make a bunch of big signings to go with Modric and Dos Santos, maybe just maybe there is a chance he will have a change of heart. But i doubt it, truth is he is gone, we have to look to the future now and hope the club do a good deal and find a replacement.

    Looks like we may finally have found someone to replace Carrick, with Modric (judging from the Euros). Now how long will it take to replace Berbatov. Its going to be tough.
  3. The problem is that there is only a few teams he will go to (AC milan, Chelsea, Man U,Inter, Barca,Real)and they may not want him and opt for other options! The asking price may be a bit too much and the clubs might go for Drogba, Eto,Villa, Benzema, Huntelaar,Adebeyor, Santa Cruz....to be fair, at the moment can only see him at is Barca or Chelsea and Chelsea are more likely to go for Villa!

  7. He is a huge part of the tottenham squad and is vital for our champions league ambitions. Modric and Berbatov are two players that can spread the ball and create opennings (which is very rare to find). If we can keep them together we'll have a big advantage over other premiership teams this season.

  11. Leave him alone. He's never said he wants to leave, in fact on numerous occasions he's said he wants to stay. If we sell him we sell him, but at the moment he's a Spurs player and that's all we know for sure.
  12. If think perhaps Ramos has convinced him to wait till around the middle of July to see what kind of sqaud we're assembling and, hopefully, get him to believe we're going somewhere. If not, fair enough, and we'll flog him for top dollar, and I can't see it being any place other than Man U or Madrid where he ends up.

  15. good point bout the hiking of prices 4 our other players. Personally i hav a strange feeling that villa will b comin 2 us and once that has gone throu mayb Berba might stay around. With all the other class strikers around 4 sale at the moment no one wants 2 front £30 mill cos they know that they can somethin similar for a lot less. After all the speculation he might just end up playing 4 us again. And Ramos is ruthless if Berba isnt puttin in the effort hell just take him off. I do hav a funny feelin that there will b a last minute bid deadline day type thing.

The only annoying thing about this whole situation is that Man Utd are whinging like little girls that Real Madrid are trying to steal there best player in the exact manor that Utd have used to lure many players in the past and are now using to attract Berbatov and his pet mole rat. How can you complain about Madrid using the media to unsettle Ronaldo whilst doing the same thing to Tottenham and Berbatov? Tell Fergie to stick his offer; I’d rather see Berbs go to West Ham for a tenner than to the hypocrites at Man Utd.
  18. Great player, really hope we can keep him, he may well be happy to give us another season if he likes the signings we are making. Yes he very annoyingly strops alot, nobody's perfect, i hope he stays he adds another dimension to our team & is virtually irreplaceable.
