Ramos to make a move for Italian International Midfielder
Milanese newspaper, Libertà, has today stated that Tottenham Hotspur manager, Juande Ramos, is strongly considering a move for A.C. Milan's holding midfielder, Gennaro Gattuso.
Spurs have had their scouts watch the midfielder on more than one occasion in the last 40 days according to the paper.
Ringhio, as he is called by his teammates, has stated that he wants to see out his career at the Milan club. However, after a lacklustre season, the Rossoneri are said to be looking at letting a few of their older players leave this summer, with Gattuso's name amongst the list of players that are set to depart.
Gattuso is contracted till the 2010/2011 season and it is believed that Milan will listen to offers in the region of €10 million (approximately £8 million).
This news has alerted Spurs, as well as Bayern Munich. Bayern are believed to have offered Gattuso a massive contract, although sources close to the player have stated that if he were to leave Serie A, he would prefer a move to the Premiership, and especially London.
Tottenham's capture of Luka Modric has proved to be quite significant on the continent. The move has shown that Spurs have the ambition and the funds needed to compete at the highest level.
Ramos is a fan of Gattuso and also understands the need for the club to buy a defensive midfielder. Spurs leaked too many goals for the Spaniards liking this season and may look to the Italian powerful ball-winning midfielder as a solution.

8 million is nothing for him.
Long live A Wenger!!!
Davids was ok for about 6 months, but after that he was nackered.
If he cost 2 or 3 mil, then id say he was worth it, but not more than that.
Wake up!
do you really think Ramos has the time to be in charge of scouting all across the world for players while running the first team and all the training etc... no. comolli finds the players then offers them to Ramos who has the final say. The DOF is an important role and we'v improved the last 3 or 4 years since we've had one Arnesen and comolli.
And I for one, think most of our reicent signings have been good -Woodgate (who like modric was offered more money elsewhere but was convinced to sign for spurs) for example, and if they haven't made the cut we haven't lost money on selling them on. in fact we've made profit.
any…
Why shouldn't we compete for the best players, all the top teams have to start somewhere. Your insecurities scream out on here!
Gattuso wuld be good but Poulsen would be even better, then Comolli should jump on a plane fly to italy and wrap up Seb Frey!!
What are peoples thoughts on the Eto'o rumours? i could be a huge waste of money or a brilliant signing? will he be able to play with robbie, he plays like defoe should and robbie has had better partners upfront.
Regards
THBN
As for Eto that aint going to happen either, too much in salary plus don't think eufa cup has quite the same draw!
Apparently we've matched the 21 million euro Valencia want for him, but he said that he wants to go to Chelsea.
They'll probably get him also, now that its clear that Drogba is on his way out.
There is real feeling at the Emirates that they are becoming the new Tottenham of North London. If only they could go the same way as Leeds.
Look arsenal fans you can look but you can't touch!! You may say its the mickey mouse cup but it is one more cup than you have had in the last few years, you lot are sh*te you thought you would win the league, DIDNT HAPPEN!!!
You thoght you would win the champions league, FA cup and leaque cup, DIDNT HAPPEN!!
You are not comparable because you are the only team this SEASON who DERBY have scored 2 against in 1 match!!
Congrats!!
BTW Gattuso would be a good signing!!
I take my hat off to Spurs. They are showing real ambition and I do think that you'll sign players like Gattuso.
Modric is a brilliant player, although he will be wasted on the wings.
I think that you lot will challenge the top 4 if you sign a few more quality players.
Kevin
Gattuso is a nastier, angrier Davids... and that's saying something! He'd be a perfect signing, and someone to keep Jenas or THudd on their toes...
I don't concur with this 'players only want to join the Big 4' theory... if a player (let's say Luka Modric for example) gets a 'good feeling' for a club heading in the right direction (not to mention more guaranteed playing time...) then why wouldn't he sign? Spurs, lest we forget, are still a big fat famous club, in Europe (alright, not THE Europe that everyone seems to want) but in there none the less... I can see two or three more players of this ilk being lured to N17... and I hear Hleb is feeling dissalusioned down the road, now wouldn't THAT be a coup?
On a second note, i do not agree with people saying the top players want to play in the Champ League. They have been there, and won that, and they will be desperate to play in the EPL. Its much tougher than the CL.
I have a mate who works at spurs so i know pretty much most things happening at the lane as he speaks to tommy huddlestone.
so here we go:
DAVID VILLA: looks set to sign for real madrid as valencia are in cash crisis and need to sell players to get their finances back on track.
SAMUEL ETO'O: Damian Commoli flew over to spain on wednesday to tie up a deal for eto'o but barca want £30m so no offer was made but comolli, levy and ramos are going to sit down and discuss a price figure which will be around £26m and some other alternative players.
DIEGO CAPEL: this looks to be a definate signing as he only has 2years left on his contract at sevilla and he is keen to link back up with ramos who helped him develop as a player. he has a £11.5m release clause in his contract but i think ramos will off…
