Rafael is a real target
Article by Jaymes Marsh
Dutch international playmaker, Rafael van der Vaart, was withdrawn from the Hamburg squad for last nights UEFA Cup clash with Honved, increasing speculation that he will be leaving the club for either La Liga or the Premier League.
Hamburg have stated to the press that van der Vaart has a niggling back problem which is keeping him out of the side. Other sources have claimed that he has been omitted from the squad so as not to harm his chances of a move away from the Bundesliga.
The Guardian stated that Rafael van der Vaart was talked about in the meeting between Spurs chairman, Daniel Levy, and head coach, Martin Jol.
Valencia have declared their interest in the player as have Real Madrid. It's to be seen if Spurs can match the £12 million price tag that been placed on the attacking midfielder.

He can even play as a striker.
Most Dutch players are the same. They seem to think that they're god's gift or something.
I wouldn't like any dutch players in the team.
Paul COYS!!
Do the board or Spurs management realise that we need a left sided midfielder/winger
Even at 10 millio, that money can be used on someone like Taylor and another player.
Why on earth are we trying to sign players that we don't need?
We've alredy got Taraabt at the club and he was called the best French attacking midfield prospect.
Just concentrate on the left side of midfield!!!
Muggs
VDV is a left sided winger you dick.
Poshspur - Grow up !
I mean come on, "stop calling names" ha ha ha - what comedy!!!!
If by definition he is a left winger; then I apologise.
I've seen him play regularly and I can assure you that he's not a left winger

The guys got weight issues and is so stroppy. If he doesn't get his own way, he goes into a strop and doesn't even train properly.

It was clear. There was absolutely no mention of Tottenham in the interview, or in the featurette which was discussing where Van Der Vaart could be headed.
File Under: CATEGORICALLY NO CHANCE OF BECOMING A SPUR.
P.S. Not a left winger. Attacking midfielder(central), creative. No weight issues IMO. Every time I've seen him play he's looked very fit.
what do we need?
a creative attacking playmaker who is flexible enough to play on the left side of midfield until we PROPERLY sort it out.
i believe the only reason we haven't signed an established accomplished left winger is because there ain't none out there for sale..
missed out on petrov (does anyone know why exactly? surely berbs would be an attraction?); duff, downing and gamst just not and never were gonna happen..
taylor sounds good, young-ish, english and only getting better but we need european experience - think about the influence that davids had, and imagine if he was still in favour for the UEFA campaign?
as much as is support spurs' effforts to maintain an english backbone and develop young talent, sometimes you just need a old head, and you can't pick them up easy.
we need another davids! a nedved, a figo, even a vieri (ok, maybe not him but you know what i mean). f**k it, bring back teddy!
but seriously, guti and taylor, best of both worlds.
COYS!
hes gold!
