Thierry Henry gives an interview to L’Equipe

Thierry Henry has already given an interview to L’Equipe as regards his £16 million move to Barcelona.

"The fact that Arsene Wenger is not prolonging his contract was another very important element to take into consideration," said the new Barcelona front man.

Could the departure of yet another Arsenal captain create a domino effect at the club? After all, in 2005, Patrick Vieira (Arsenal's captain prior to leaving), left for Italy. In 2006, Ashley Cole left the club in search of more wealth when he joined Chelsea. And now, in 2007, Thierry Henry has also departed from Arsenal.

The big question now, is if Arsene Wenger will sign a new contract at the club he practically built.

If Wenger were to leave, the club would be left in turmoil.

Many Arsenal fans are worrying that Tottenham Hotspur will overtake them in the coming 2007/2008 season.

I for one, agree.

  12. In the same interview he even says and I quote" I am leaving because of their style of football they play (at Barcelona), their history and the stadium".     They have lost a world class player, for little money, that will not only affect the team but the club. If Fab goes then its top 10 for the goon. Wenger will honour his contract for one more year and then left at the end of next season.
    But I cannot stop laughing at the Goons who claim that it is a good deal.

    Selling Henry for £16 million is superb business.

    Remember, he's 29 years old and it's showing. He was earning far too much money also which was a strain on our wage bill.

    It was our decision to sell him, and not Barcelona's to buy him.

He stated that Arsene Wenger has never extended a contract before the present contract has run its course.
